Maik Daniel Makhado is the son of Riky Rick and Bianca Naidoo. His father is the late famous musician, while his mother is a former marketing executive. Maik’s father, Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, aka Riky Rick, was a prominent rapper, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur. He was the founder and owner of Cotton Club Records and was widely known for his songs – ‘Boss Zonke’ and ‘Nafukwa’. On the other hand, his mother, Bianca Naidoo, is a former marketing executive and Riky Rick’s talent manager.

Bianca met her late husband in Sandton in early 2010. They reportedly got married in 2013 and the next year, their son, Maik Daniel Makhado was born. The couple stayed married for nine years before Ricky committed suicide on February 23rd, 2022 after a lengthy battle with depression.

Maik Daniel Makhado has an older half-sister named Jordan Makhado. The two are being raised together at their home in Johannesburg. For several years, Jordan was believed to be of the same parents as Maik. However, Bianca Naidoo while paying tribute to her late husband revealed that Jordan Makhado isn’t Riky Rick’s biological child as she had her daughter from a previous relationship.

Maik Makhado had a strong bond with his father while he was alive. The ‘Boss Zonke’ hitmaker often gushed about his son on social media. In March 2016, when Maik Daniel Makhado turned two, Riky took to Instagram and shared some of the pictures he took with his son while having special moments together. He expressed how he had waited for moments like that all his life.

Then on Father’s Day in June 2018, he further narrated how scared he was of becoming a father when Bianca was pregnant with his son, but eventually became a proud father after realizing that spending time together with Makhado Junior; laughing, dancing, and building castles with mud are what truly matter and are priceless.

It’s noteworthy that the enviable father and son bond between Maik and Riky was developed immediately after Maik’s birth as the late rapper and his newborn son were featured on the cover of Mamas & Papas Magazine in March 2014. Riky Rick also paid tribute to Maik Daniel Makhado in the music video for his song, ‘Sondela’ released in July 2015.

In his last note to Maik before taking his life, he encouraged his son, who wished to be like him, to follow his passions, assuring him that his world is bigger than anything he could ever imagine.
