Sikelelwa Vuyeleni bagged her first acting role at the age of 15, while in Grade 10 at Eersterivier Secondary School. An agency signed her after realizing she had been at the forefront of arts and culture, and performance-related projects. The agency told her about the audition for the series Traffic, which she went to and was handed the role of Zen.

At the time, her drama teacher, Mrs. Jill Markram, helped to perfect her acting skills and she shared screen space with the likes of Kagiso Rakosa, Mbulelo Grootboom, and Thembi Mtshali-Jones. Her performance in the police drama series opened doors for more acting roles for her. Subsequently, she played Lelethu in Mzansi Magic’s series Isikizi in May 2017, while in her second year at the university.

Siks had her big break in the industry in 2018 as she was cast in a main role in Moja Love’s drama series, Hope. The 25-year-old played Thando in the series, which was the first scripted show to air on the then-new DStv channel. She also scored roles in Ukuphila Kabili, Umalume, and Ingozi yoThando.

Later in 2020, she was cast as Owami Kwena, a 23-year-old visual artist and the daughter of eminent football club owner Rex (Sello Maake Ka Ncube) and his wife, Thembi (Tina Jaxa) in Vula Vala. In the year 2021, Sikelelwa Vuyeleni solidified her status as a rising star as she joined the cast of the multi-award-winning fashion drama series, House of Zwide. She joined the show as Nambitha, a fashion designer intern, whose mother worked for Funani Zwide’s (Vusi Kunene) fashion house.

However, after her mom quit her job, hoping that her daughter would be appointed Funani’s design assistant, she lost her internship at the House of Zwide. And her character was written out from the show.

Sikelelwa Vuyeleni Landed Her Second Lead Role at the Age of 24

In April 2023, when Vuyeleni was 24 years old, she was offered her second career lead role in 1802: Love Defies Time. The 1Magic series premiered on May 1st, 2023 and has a star-studded cast, which includes the likes of Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo, Mothoe Ratikane, Amanda Quwe, Zenande Mfenyana, Connie Chiume, Thembi Seete, and Lusanda Mbane. The budding actress plays the leading lady in the series.

She portrays the character of Khosi, an intern doctor who got engaged to her colleague, Zuko (Vuyo Ngcukana) but was taken back to the 1800s after she fainted and eventually, she fell in love with a Prince. Though caught in a different era, the talented actress effortlessly brings the character of Khosi to life and often gets the viewers enchanted. Even though playing Khosi has made Siks’ more famous, she is quite popular for her role as Natasha in Adulting.

Following her exit from House of Zwide, Sikelelwa Vuyeleni was cast in Showmax’s risque adult series, Adulting in 2022.
