Her achievements were also recognized with her appointment as President of the South African Gospel Awards in 2020. In addition, she won an international award in London for her work as an Outstanding Music Promoter and Brand Manager.

Who is Sfiso Ncwane, Ayanda’s Late Husband?

Ayanda’s late husband was the sensational South African gospel singer, composer, and producer Sfiso Ncwane. He was born in a small township called Mthwalume, Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal province.

He grew up with his biological parents; the name of his mother is Irene Ncwane but the identity of his father is not publicly known. Sfiso had siblings and one of them was his younger sister named Sbahle.

Ncwane did not go to college. He had only grade 2; that notwithstanding he achieved so much success, including fame and fortune through his music career. He was a best-selling artist in the country, having released over 10 albums.

His projects were recognized by several organizations and in the local music industry. Sfiso had over 30 awards to his name at the time of his painful exit.

Some of his albums are:

  • Kulungile Baba (2011)
  • Kulungile Baba Live (2012)

  • Sifiso (2005)

  • Uyisiphephelo Sami (2008)
  • Baba Ngiyavuma (2009)
  • Bayede Baba (2014)
  • Wethembekile Baba (2016)

Ncwane’s sudden was a big blow on Ayanda. The loss affected her in so many ways, as Sfiso was the breadwinner at the time of his death – both in his matrimonial home and family home.

The first responsibility Mrs. Ncwane took up after her husband died was making sure that her kids were well taken care of. She became their sole provider and also ensured that they did not miss their father’s absence badly.

Prior to Sfiso’s demise, Ayanda already had a sore relationship with his family. So, even after his passing, they did not treat her any better.

For 12 months, she had to follow the cultural custom of wearing mourning clothes, which she felt was unfair given that men were not subjected to the same restrictions and women should have had a say in the matter.

The Ncwanes had labelled the TV personality a gold digger and accused her of only getting involved with their son because of his money. Ayanda never allowed their allegations to get to her or took it to heart, although it worsened her situation after her husband’s death.

Ayanda Was Sfiso Ncwane’s Wife For 15 Years Before His Demise

Ayanda and her late husband first met in Johannesburg in 2001. Their paths crossed while the former was on her way with her friends to buy ice cream. Sfiso walked up to Ayanda, who was 18 years old then, and inquired what she was doing in the city.

Ayanda candidly told him that she was in the city to raise money to further her education and also pursue her dream of acting and modelling. For the late musician, it was love at first sight and so he pressed on for them to become friends.

Sfiso and Ayanda eventually found themselves compatible. In February 2007, after dating for almost six years, the late singer proposed and Ayanda said “YES”.

The two tied the knot four months later in South Africa and the occasion was graced by a good number of dignitaries. Mrs. Sfiso became a person of public interest after her marriage to the Kulungile Baba crooner.

Even though Ncwane wasn’t so rich when they met and married newly, through Ayanda’s support (amidst family challenges and other odds), the two were able to build a music empire and also made several other laudable achievements.

Mrs. Ncwane was her late husband’s manager before his demise. So it was only natural that she took up the reins of his music company after his death, which she did.

Ayanda and Sfiso Also Had Their Fair Share of Controversies

Like many marriages, Ayanda and her husband faced some controversies. In 2015, a South African woman named Pinky Dlamini made allegations that she had a child with the late gospel singer.

She also requested that Sifso Ncwane began to pay child support. However, the Kulugile Baba hitmaker denied her claims and proposed a paternity test to be done. Pinky asserted that she dated Sifso in 2002, but he left her after she became pregnant.

Ayanda did not make public comments on the allegations until everything died down.  In November 2015, Sfiso hit the headlines for claiming that he bought all his cars in cash in a weekly magazine.

He made the claims following his much-publicised donation of a Mercedes Benz GL 63 AMG V8 to his spiritual father, Francis Anosike. The car cost a whopping R1.9 million. A subsequent investigation later found he deceived his fans.

In June 2023, Ayanda was called out by the popular gospel group Abathandwa for not paying them their dues in royalties for their hit album, Ehhe moya wam. They alleged that she kept the money from their song that sold multi-platinum for herself and her company and only gave them a plague for their hard work.

Abathandwa was brought to Ncwane Communication by Sfiso shortly before his demise. The group and the communication have since parted ways. She denied owing them royalties but claimed they parted ways amicably so she could focus on other things.

Did Ayanda Ncwane Inherit Her Late Husband’s Estate?

Ayanda Ncwane was given the majority of Sfiso’s estate, including his double-storey house located in the north of Johannesburg within the Deinfern suburb of Sandton. This did not include his other children who were born to other women.

In addition, she inherited his company, Ncwane Communications. The will was written in October, two months before his death, and the singer’s baby mamas challenged it in court.

They argued that since Ayanda was a witness to the will, she should not be allowed to benefit from it. It was also suggested that Ncwane had not written a will and that Ayanda forged it to make herself the only beneficiary.

There have been no updates on the court case since.

Ayanda Ncwane’s Children

Ayanda Ncwane and her late husband had two children together. Their names are Ngcweti Ncwane and Mawenza Ncwane. The former was born on 18th June while the latter was born on 6th March.

The exact years she had two of them are not publicly known. Both boys are fast-growing and currently live with their mother in their father’s Johburg mansion.

Ngcweti, who is fondly called Mak, is an up-and-coming musician and rapper. He recently released a song titled Charlie’s Angels alongside Andii IV and Votron.

Has Ayanda Ncwane Remarried?

The late Sfiso Ncwane’s widow has not married for the second time since the late musician’s passing. She is not in a serious relationship with any man either. However, she has not ruled out the possibility of settling down one day with a man.

She once mentioned in an interview that she would definitely take her time before giving love another chance as it was not going to be easy for such a man, as she would always be labelled as ‘Sfiso Ncwane’s wife’.

She hopes to settle for a man who shares the same attributes as her late husband or even comes close.

Why did Ayanda Ncwane Leave Real Housewives of Durban?

A lot of reasons have been mentioned as the reason Ayanda Ncwane exited the Real Housewives of Durban reality TV show. First, it is said that she felt the show portrayed her in a negative way.

Again, she also felt that the RHOD stands in opposite line with her husband’s legacy that she’s been trying to preserve. Apart from the fact that shuffling between Johannesburg and Durban was very tedious for Ayanda, she found it awkward when the producers of the show insisted she move to Durban for the shooting after reportedly renting a place for her.

Mrs. Ncwane felt she was not being sincere with viewers about her location. Lastly, she was said to be working on her show then. Nevertheless, Ayanda hasn’t personally opened up about her dramatic exit from the show.

One of the highlights of the TV show was South African reality TV star Nonku Williams revealing in episode one of the show that Ayanda’s late husband was the father of her daughter, Nothile.

When she dropped the bombshell, Ayanda acted surprised but then she actually admitted to knowing about Sfiso and Nonku’s relationship and the birth of their child in the book For The Love of Sfiso Ncwane, which was released after her husband’s demise.

Ayanda’s mother-in-law subsequently confirmed Nonku’s claim, admitting that she and Nothile used to visit her when the latter was about a year or two years old. She also pleaded with Williams to bring home her granddaughter as it had been years since she set her eyes on them.

Supporting her mother’s claim, Sfiso’s younger sibling, Sbahle, divulged that her late brother was dating both Williams and Ayanda at the same time before he eventually settled for the latter.

However, Nonku claimed that she had been in the late singer’s life before Ayanda came into the picture. In her book, Ayanda claimed that she found out that Sfiso was dating ‘a woman from a wealthy background’ after their relationship drifted.
