What Happened To L’vovo Derrango, Is He Dead or Alive?

L’vovo Derrango suffered a minor stroke on December 23rd, 2022, while performing in KwaZulu-Natal, but he is still alive and has recovered.

In recent years, the multi-award-winning Kwaito artist L’vovo Derrango has been a victim of a death hoax. In 2018, he slammed a Facebook post saying that he died in a car crash. Later, in 2020, he was involved in a fatal accident, and again, in May 2022, he had a head-on collision with a truck and nearly lost his life. Then, in late 2022, he suffered a minor stroke and was rumored dead, but he is still alive and kicking.

Did L’vovo Pass Away or Still Alive?

L’vovo Derrango is not dead but is recovering from a minor stroke. Soon after his record label, Derrango Records and Entertainment, revealed his poor health condition, rumors emerged that the Kwaito singer had passed away. As a result, his record label released another public statement on 2022 Christmas Day, condemning the hurtful rumors.

They cited that the update about L’vovo’s health was released to dispel the fake death rumor. They also made it known to the public that such fake news grossly hurt his family. While they pleaded with the public and the media to stop circulating hurtful rumors and respect the privacy of L’vovo and his family, the record label also disclosed that the music artist was making excellent progress at the time.

Over the years, L’vovo Derrango has been a victim of death hoaxes. Despite frowning upon the act of spreading false death news on social media, it kept on happening. In March 2018, he was rumored in a Facebook post to have died in an accident. He slammed the post and stated that he was alive and well.

L’vovo Nearly Lost His Life in Two Horrific Car Accidents

In December 2020, L’vovo was involved in a ghastly car crash on the N2 highway near Scottburgh, KwaZulu-Natal, and he narrowly escaped death. Later, in May 2022, while coming back from Newcastle, he was involved in a fatal car accident that almost took his life. His VW Polo 7 had a head-on collision with a truck carrying cement.

He dislocated his hip and couldn’t walk; thus, the hip was replaced, and the surgery took four hours instead of two hours. He also sustained an injury to his right knee and a knot on his left knee. Consequently, he was admitted to the high-care unit. He spent almost a month at the hospital, and after getting discharged on June 2nd, 2022, he was using a walking ring.

He later started using crutches while learning how to walk again. He attended physiotherapy classes and looked forward to walking independently, which he later did. His doctor told him that it would take him two months to be fully mobile again as he had to heal properly. After recovering fully, the KwaZulu-Natal native wrote an appreciation letter to his fans, expressing his gratitude for their support.

What is the Cause of L’vovo Derrango’s ill Health?

On December 24th, 2022, Derrango Records Entertainment released a public statement that disclosed that L’vovo Derrango had a minor stroke the previous day. While performing at Indwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal, he felt dizzy and lost feeling on the left side of his body. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was admitted and received medical attention.

The record label also urged South Africans to keep him in their prayers, adding that his family implores the public to respect their privacy during the difficult time. They further assured L’vovo fans that he would come out of the situation stronger. Then, in early January 2023, the musician shared a video of himself recovering well at home.

He was discharged from the hospital on December 30th, 2022. He was kept in the hospital for a while because his blood pressure was very high, and it had to be stabilized before he could head home. From the video, it was noticed that L’vovo Derrango had a slight facial drop at the time, and his speech was also affected by the stroke.

He later disclosed that the health scare had taught him to care for himself properly, not to overwork his body, and to maintain a healthy diet. He was thankful for the love and support he received from his fans, family, and friends.

However, in June 2023, the ‘Resista’ hitmaker pulled out from performing at Cotton Fest due to poor health condition.

The star-studded event was meant to take place on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, at the Kings Park Stadium, but L’vovo apologized to the event organizers and his fans for his withdrawal. He said that his doctor advised him against returning to music as he needed to take things easy until he recovered. He added that the past few months had been the most challenging period of his life as he had literally watched his life flash before him.

L’vovo Derrango had been in regular engagement with his doctor about his health condition, and the doctor warned him to take things gradually as he had not fully recovered.
