Musa Mthombeni’s wife took to radio presenting soon after the end of her reign as Miss SA 2015. She joined Jacaranda FM in the year 2016 and began hosting a Sunday evening program from 20:00 to midnight. She later started hosting her own show titled, The CTM Top 20 with Liesl Laurie every Saturday.
Later on, she joined Martin Bester as part of Jacaranda FM’s breakfast show team and was a co-host on the show on weekdays. In 2021, the team bagged the South African Radio Award for Best Breakfast Show. The media personality then decided to say goodbye to the radio station in June 2022. Besides radio presenting, Liesl Laurie has been a contestant on Dancing with the Stars South Africa Season 1.

On July 2nd, 2020, a mutual friend of the couple, Dr. Khanyile, posted Liesl Laurie on her IG story. After seeing the post, the radiologist fell in love with the model and immediately made his feelings known to Khanyile by commenting on the story with a lovestruck emoji. He equally sent her a voice note.
Within a short while, Musa also sent a direct message to Liesl on Instagram and the two haven’t stopped talking to each other every day since then. Having been public figures, the beautiful couple ensured that their relationship was kept under wraps until they were ready to make it official publicly. They eventually surprised Mzansi when they announced their engagement on June 27, 2021.
The medical doctor proposed to his girlfriend on top of KwaZulu-Natal mountain as they made a weekend trip to Durban. The couple checked in at The Beverly Hills Hotel and later got to the picturesque mountaintop using a helicopter and there, they got engaged.

Soon after their engagement, Musa Mthombeni paid Liesl Laurie’s lobola in July 2021 and he took to Instagram to announce that he had sent cows to his fiancée’s family and they were accepted. He then notified his followers that Liesl had become his wife after 11 months of asking her to be his girlfriend. Later on August 18, 2021, the couple had an intimate wedding that was graced by only 30 guests.
They went on their first honeymoon at Mosaic Lagoon Lodge situated in the Hermanus Lagoon and Walker Bay Nature Reserve in the Western Cape. In the same August, they traveled to Cape Town for their second honeymoon and stayed at the luxurious Claredon Fresnaye Hotel. The lovely couple always gush over each other on social media.
And on several occasions, Laurie’s husband had been attacked by tweeps who claimed that he was obsessed with his wife for his constant public show of love for her. He then replied those dragging him for loving his wife too much by stating that love is not depriving your partner of affection because you are scared that they will leave you once it gets into their head.
In August 2023, Musa and Liesl traveled to Mauritius on a romantic vacation for their second wedding anniversary. And their love seems to be waxing stronger with each passing year.
