The veteran actress is a divorcee and a mother of four grown-up children. She got married to a South African man in the year 1985 and divorced in 2004. Chiume is the daughter of Wright Tadeyo Chiume and MaNdlovu. Her father, who died in 1983, originally hails from Usisya, Nkhata Bay, in Malawi, while her mother, MaNdlovu, was born in KwaZulu-Natal. She passed away in the month of March 2020 following complications of lung cancer.
