Sorisha Naidoo Before Surgery

In an interview with DRUM in 2018, Sorisha Naidoo admitted to having a plastic surgeon, who is a highly regarded doctor based in Durban. In other words, she might have had plastic surgery before. She has never confirmed it but has been very open about her skin-lightening journey. The reality TV star further revealed to DRUM that she started bleaching her skin after her Miss India South Africa win was roundly criticized.

She stated that some people in the Indian community weren’t happy that a dark-skinned girl won the beauty pageant. She was quite hurt by their comments which damaged her self-esteem. Even though she knew she deserved the crown due to her intelligence, Sorisha Naidoo allowed herself to wallow in self-doubt, which eventually resulted in her bleaching her skin.

She fell for the public opinion that light-skinned ladies are more beautiful. Hence, she bleached her skin to the point that it became too light, and she developed vitiligo. Naidoo had to look for the root of her problem as her skin lost its pigment cells and had discolored patches. She was then becoming too white, and her skin was almost paper thin.

It was at that point that she had long meetings with her plastic surgeon and eventually discovered a product that helped to produce melanin. She regrets adhering to people’s opinions about her which pushed her into skin bleaching.
