The leader of the EFF Julius Malema has added his voice to the public debate on the outcome of the Pistorius sentence.

Judge Thokozile Masipa dished out her judgment in the High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday. Oscar Pistorius’ Sentence has so far attracted severe criticisms from the public.

“It looks like a white boy is been treated nicely compared to our people, where is Jub Jub today where are those people who tried to robbed SABC crew they were given 15 years each one of them.

Now a person is convicted of murder yet he gets six years. I mean today where are the murderers of Marikana people, why is justice not served there.

A white boy killed a white girl the matter finished much earlier it came back the re-run is now finished as well Marikana people we are still waiting,” says Malema.

Oscar Pistorius has spent the first of many nights behind bars as a convicted murderer. He was found guilty and handed a six-year sentence for the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

On the other hand, United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader, Bantu Holomisa, says he respects the court ruling. He however added that he was expecting a harsher sentence for the murderer.

“Judge Masipa seems to have not taken kindly that she would be instructed or be told that she did not give a right judgement at the beginning so we need to therefore also respect the decision of the judge, but we expected that she would follow the law which says the minimum at least should be 15 years,” he said.
