The International Cricket Council has released the latest Men’s Test Bowling Rankings and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada is getting much of the attention.
Earlier this year, the ODI bowling rankings in MRF Tyres ranked Rabada the best bowler in the world. Then, he moved up four places to take the top spot.
Now, the South African cricketer is being celebrated for moving to a career-best third position among bowlers.
The all-formats player, as a bowler, gained two slots to reach a career-best third position among bowlers in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings. This follows his player of the match performance against Bangladesh in Bloemfontein which excessively helped to attain a complete 2-0 win in the two-Test series.
As it happened, Radaba bagged 5 wickets in each innings which made possible a fantastic match haul of 10 for 63 and ultimately, handed his side an innings and 254 runs victory.
In the latest Men’s Test Bowling Rankings which also considered the second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Dubai, Radaba bagged enviable improvement.
“(He) has overtaken spinners Rangana Herath of Sri Lanka and Ravichandran Ashwin of India and is now on 876 points, only eight points behind second-placed India spinner Ravindra Jadeja and 20 behind top-ranked James Anderson of England,” announced ICC.
The International Cricket Council also celebrated other South African cricketers who gained notable improvement in the latest rankings.
“Rabada was not the only South Africa pace bowler to gain in the latest rankings as his new-ball partner Duanne Olivier (up nine places to a career-best 48th position), Wayne Parnell (up 10 places to 60th) and Andile Phehlukwayo (up 27 places to 93rd) have also moved up the rankings.
“Captain Faf du Plessis and Aiden Markram, century-makers at Bloemfontein, are among the batsmen to gain. Du Plessis’s 135 not out has seen him move up two places to 14th position while Markram has gained 43 slots to reach a career-best 61st position after his knock of 143,” ICC detailed.

Meanwhile, ICC expressed that South Africa can move back to number one spot in the MRF Tyres ICC ODI Team Rankings.
“An interesting battle for the top spot in the MRF Tyres ICC ODI Team Rankings could be in the offing as South Africa can displace India if they win the upcoming series against Bangladesh by a 3-0 margin,” stated the Cricket Council.
Currently, South Africa sits at the second spot with 5,948 points and 114 rating. India is at the top of the table with 5,993 points and 120 rating.
