“This is the time to honour the memory of our great and beloved Lundi.

“It would bring the family and friends so much comfort to see South Africans remember what he was about and all he stood for, everyone is invited,” Hlazo said.

The memorial service will take place at the Grace Bible Church in Pimville. The service is scheduled to start at 2pm and everybody is allowed to attend. This is to ensure that the late singer is remembered and honoured by those who knew him and benefited from his music.

A statement released by the family confirmed that he died at Edenvale hospital in the early hours of Friday morning after a long battle with stomach TB worsened by liver complications. He was 38 years old.

Lundi was reportedly in and out of the hospital while we were making merry in December last year. He first got admitted to hospital in December and was discharged at the beginning of the year.

Apparently, his health took a downturn as he was readmitted once again. Last week, it was announced that he had liver complications and was later transferred to ICU where he was put on life support. Eventually, he lost the battle.

Consequently, fans, celebrities and high-profile personalities flooded social media with touching tributes to the fallen star and condolences to the family. Some of his celebrity friends remembered the way Lundi touched the lives of thousands of people through his good music.
