Prior to Idols SA season 13 which kicks off on Saturday, 14 January the show’s management has announced the first guest judge of the new season.
With the first round of auditions scheduled to take place in the Mother City at the Grand West Casino and Entertainment Centre, fans have been informed to expect R&B singer Donald as a guest judge.
Taking to its official Twitter page, the show announced the news;
“CAPE TOWN! You’ve got our guest judge, R&B crooner Donald to impress this Sat (14 Jan) at the #IdolsSA S13 Auditions.”

As a singer and songwriter, Donald has been nominated for various awards in the past. His third album Black and White was certified Gold by the Recording Industry of South Africa, just three months after it was released in 2014.
Meanwhile, as we were speculating about who we are going to see as judges on Idols SA season 13, we got a hint that songstress Kelly Khumalo has been tipped to become one of the guest judges on the show. Khumalo who has done remarkably well in her career is expected to join Somizi Mhlongo, Unathi Msengana and Randall Abrahams as one of the judges for the season 13 of the reality show.
According to Mzansi Magic’s PR manager Nondumiso Mabece, the management will not be replacing former judge Gareth Cliff, but will instead have four guest judges in the four cities.
Nevertheless, Mabece would not confirm the names “until the contracts are signed”. But we will surely find out soon as the competition is set to hold its first auditions in Cape Town on January 14.
In November 2016, former Idols SA judge Gareth Cliff resigned from the renowned show after spending 11 seasons on it.
