Embattled Hawks boss Lieutenant-general Berning Ntlemeza’s urgent legal bid to interdict police minister Fikile Mbalula failed woefully on Thursday when the Pretoria High Court ruled against him.

Ntlemeza has been in a long-running court battle after he was found unfit to continue with his position at the elite unit.

He had approached the High Court on Wednesday to prevent Minister Mbalula from attacking and ‘humiliating’ him in public.

Apart from demanding for his cellphone and official vehicle, he also requested the court, in his papers to prevent Mbalula from stopping him from reporting for duty.

However, on Thursday, Judge Sheila Mphahlele‚ ruled that the matter was not urgent and could be dealt with by the Supreme Court of Appeal. She also made reference to an earlier order against Ntlemeza.

“The full court noted that it was not in dispute that in the Sibiya judgment, the applicant was found to have been dishonest,” she said.

Judge Mphahlele, in addition, ordered him to pay the costs of his latest round of litigation.

On March 17, a full bench of the High Court in Pretoria set aside former Police Minister Nathi Nhleko’s decision to appoint Ntlemeza as head of the Hawks. The bench ruled that Ntlemeza lacked the honesty, integrity and conscientiousness for the top post.

Weeks after the court ruling, the Hawks head was spotted with Prophet Paseka Motsoeneg‚ better known as Prophet Mboro‚ at the Incredible Happenings Church in Katlehong‚ East of Johannesburg.

Mboro prayed for him and told him at the time that his ‘enemies’ will be put to shame.

Meanwhile, the lieutenant general’s appeal against an earlier court order which set aside his appointment as head of the unit will be heard in the Supreme Court on June 2.

Following the development, a racket of memes featuring sacked Hawks boss Berning Ntlemeza exploded on Twitter. Most online complicated the matter by dragging prophet Mboro to the debacle.
