Floyd Shivambu’s Traditional Wedding: On Saturday, April 9, the saying that love knows no bound found resonance in Economic Freedom Fighters’ deputy president, Floyd Shivambu.

EFF’s Shivambu has always been considered the taciturn EFF-branded tough guy. The heavily-built figure, who is Malema’s right-hand man got married to his longtime friend Siphesihle Pezi in a traditional wedding on the said day.

The traditional marriage held at Mahosini village outside Malamulele in Limpopo and was well attended by the EFF family – including Julius Malema, Ndlozi Mbuyiseni, Dali Mpofu, former Limpopo MEC David Masondo and former ANCYL deputy president Ronald Lamola among others.

According to reliable sources, the couple had the first leg of the wedding in Cape Town last weekend and was attended by some members of the EFF national leadership.

Shivambu’s new bride is an ANC cadre and was recently employed by the ruling party in Parliament, according to multiple reports.

The news of Pezi – who looked comely and astonishing in her traditional Xitshonga outfit, Xibelani – getting married to Shaivambu sent many tongues wagging, with some suggesting that there is more to it.

However, the couple proceeded with the ceremony and it went down in a very special way. Photographs posted by the EFF on Twitter showed EFF leader Julius Malema making a speech at the ceremony and also advocate Dali Mpofu proposing a toast for the newly married couple.

Speaking at the occasion, Malema dismissed claims that he is not in good terms with his deputy. An allegation which many linked to his absence to Shivambu’s wedding in Cape Town.

He said: “There is a rumour that has been circulating that the CIC (commander in chief) was not at Cape Town on the first leg of the wedding because there is bad blood between him and Floyd Shivambu. That’s not true. I sent a delegation which is a leadership of the EFF and they brought back a good report and I was happy. Only mad people who don’t understand cultural things will say that.”

On the controversy surrounding Shivambu and his bride’s political affiliation, the chief fighter explained that the EFF doesn’t bar its members from marrying ANC members.

“If we bar Floyd then we will have a problem. We might lose him. We believe that all parties are African parties. To the Shivambu family, I thank you because the boy you gave us now has returned as a man,” he buttressed.

The big-mouthed leader also advised his deputy to stick only to his wife, adding that the EFF hates divorce.

Turning to the bride, he reminded her that “Floyd also has a family which is the EFF, so sometimes he will be forced to go to meetings at night. There are some of the meetings that our wives must not question.”

Floyd Shivambu’s traditional wedding was spiced up by Ndlozi’s special rendition of EFF’s revolution song – Azania. The song sent many people clapping their hands slowly while others stood and simply sang along with the EFF songbird.

The event anchorman and media personality MC Given Mkhari, who is also the CEO of MSG Afrika Group took to Twitter to wish the couple a blissful marriage.

After Floyd Shivambu’s traditional wedding, the fighter took to Facebook and thanked all and sundry for sharing in their happiness.

He simply wrote: “It is done! Thanks for the good wishes and support!”

Floyd Shivambu studied at the University of Witwatersrand. Along with Malema, he helped destroyed former President Thabo Mbeki and installed Jacob Zuma as ANC leader.

He once disclosed that Malema had no real intention of starting a political party in 2013 after they were pushed out the African National Congress (ANC). He claimed that the once ANCYL leader [Malema] took the step after the historic the Marikana massacre was perpetrated by the ANC government.
