I type this message with a very sore heart, unfortunately the lords timing can't be anticipated, You have to as a human being act in real time. In my third year as host of Hip Hop radio show "The Hip Hop Floor" & Hip Hop Chart show "The Hip Hop Hot 99" along with "YTKO" mix Friday's resident. After long thought and nothing but great moments when I sit and think about the time I had in the red building. 😂❤️ I have decided to let the lord do his work and lead me to the next chapter in my life. To all the Yires, GP's Koolest, East Rand special S/O to you guys – You have been riding with the 99.2 Frequency since day one, All the academics that walked into a big building with no idea of what everything they've ever wanted to do looks like to now hearing you on air, or bumping into you either upstairs or in a tech room, Fifi in the room filled with lots of people always because of the amount of love you have for human beings, Bra Ish with his always welcoming personality when you walk into the building, so many people to mention. Everyone at YFM, Thank you so much!!! It is time for me to spread my wings, forever in my heart!!! ❤️ #WhatsNextIsAllThatMatters
In what seems like a mass exodus, Sphectacula and DJ Naves (the kings of the weekend) announced to a sad audience that they’re ready to bid farewell to Metro FM after seven years of making listeners dance on weekends.
“This Saturday will be our last show on Metro FM. We are taking a small break to focus on other things for now,” the duo announced on The Fresh Breakfast show with DJ Fresh.
Apparently, the duo felt it’s time to move out of their comfort zone and explore their horizon. However, it wasn’t an easy decision to make, but it had to be done for things to move to another level.
“No, it was not easy at all. There were many sleepless nights‚ including last night. But we have always been firm in terms of our plans and wanting to make things a success,” they said.
Sphectacula and DJ Naves expressed their gratitude to the public broadcaster. They also revealed that in the future, they might return to the station.
Accordingly, SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago confirmed the news, saying the broadcaster was currently in the process of appointing a replacement. However, he wouldn’t reveal who they were planning to appoint, but now we know.
