Prior to the appointed by the mayor last week, Linda Mti was head of security during the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

To ensure that the investigation is done accordingly, the DA plans to make a request to the office of the Metro’s Speaker Maria Hermans. The request will be to promptly publish the full list showing all the applicants for the post, including their credentials.

This is to determine why they were all ignored by the African National Congress while Mti got the appointment.

“As Mayor Jordaan’s chosen candidate‚ the appointment of criminal Mti shows Jordaan as being soft on crime and corruption‚” said DA mayoral candidate for Nelson Mandela Bay Atholl Trollip in a statement.

He said he was not surprised about the appointment given that Mti was Mayor Jordaan’s head of security for the 2010 soccer World cup.

However, he described Mti’s appointment as head of security as absurd given his notorious criminal history and the alleged involvement in billion-rand fraud scandals tagging him.

Following another request by the DA, the Pretoria High Court will today, deliver a judgment on whether the decision to drop the corruption charges against President Jacob Zuma and the controversial spy tapes, six years ago, was lawful.

The court’s judgement would be one of the prominent cases President Zuma would be entangled in within a short period of time as this is coming few weeks after the constitutional court delivered its judgement against the president.
