HSBC Cape Town Sevens is almost here and SA Rugby is happy with Cape Town being abuzz with rugby action.
It has called on South Africans and everyone attending the event to know “all the ins and outs of what will be happening on Saturday and Sunday.”
If you’re yet to get a ticket for the showdown, you can’t anymore. All tickets for the event are sold out.
For those coming, the Granger Bay Blvd, Vlei Road and Fritz Sonnenberg Road are closed.
BuzzSouthAfrica learnt that MyCiti Bus will be servicing free rides from the Civic Centre and Thibault Square Station to the Cape Town Stadium and back.
However, you’ll have to present your match day ticket in order to access this free service.
The first bus will depart from Civic Centre at 09h00 and the last bus departs from the Stadium at 21h15. Mind you, normal MyCiti services can only be accessed with the MyConnect card, and standard fare applies.
Coming with your ride? The best place to park would be in the CBD (south of Buitengracht Street). From there, you can take a free shuttle to the Stadium from the Civic Centre or Thibault Square stations.
There will be no public parking available at Cape Town Stadium. And, exiting from other parking facilities close to the venue will take a lot of time at the end of play on each day.
Feel free to come along with your kids. SA Rugby Kiddies Village will be running from 11h00 to 19h00 on both days of the tournament. Entrance is free for all children between the ages of two up to 10.
Umbrellas, fireworks, firearms and other weapons, any illegal substances, any musical instruments and food or beverages bought outside won’t be allowed into the stadium.
ATMs will be stationed on the stadium concourse. So, you can get your cash for food and drinks from Food Lovers Market, SAB Castle Lager Beer Garden and the variety of food trucks that will be selling snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
Also, there will be two retail stalls selling Cape Town Sevens rugby merchandise. You’ll find them situated inside the concourse area.
Gates will open every morning at 09h00. For day one, first pool match will kick off at 10h15 and the last match at 19h56.
Day two will start with the first knock-out match at 10h36 and the Cup final will start at 19h30. Thereafter comes trophy presentation at 20h00.
