SA Rapper AKA has trumped fellow South African artists to secure five nominations on the list for this year’s African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).
His hit collaboration with Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz scored him two nominations in the prestigious Best Collaboration and Song of the Year categories.
Other nominations he was listed for include the Best Rap Act, Best Male Southern Africa (which he boasts of presently) and Artist of the Year categories.
Last year’s ceremony saw the rapper walking away with two awards for Best Male Southern Africa and Best Collaboration for All Eyes on Me.
For SA rapper AKA, this is something to be tankful for as he quickly tweeted his appreciation for the nominations.
AKA’s rival Cassper Nyovest also made the list with two nominations in the Best Rap Act and Best Male Southern Africa categories.
Singer-song writer and SAMA award-winning artist Nathi Mankayi was nominated in the Best Newcomer category.
BET Award winner Black Coffee will also contest alongside rapper AKA on the Best Male Southern Africa category.
Following the awards ceremony held in Los Angeles, Black Coffee became the first South African artist to walk away with a BET Award in the category: ‘Best International Act – Africa’ as part of the recognition awards at the 2016 BET Africa.

The awards will be held in Dallas, Texas, America on October 15.
