According to police report, two teenage girls told the police how they were gang raped multiple times, by different groups of men, in two separate incidents and within the space of two days.
Police spokesperson Constable Peter Kareli further explained that the girls aged 13 and 15 were gang raped overnight by a group of six men on Thursday, February 18 and were later dumped at a hiking spot the next day where they were raped again this time, by two homeless men.
On Thursday, February 18, the two girls who were later gang raped were allegedly heading to a hiking spot in Phuthaditjhaba in the Free State to get transport to Bethlehem. On their way, they were offered a lift in a silver vehicle, said Kareli.
But instead of stopping them at Bethlehem, the vehicle made a diversion to a different direction, and headed towards Bloemfontein.
According to Kareli, the men took their victims to a house in Buitesig where five out of the six men raped the girls while one of them watched the free show.
When the men had their fill which extended to the next day, they dumped the two girls at a hiking spot in Bloemfontein to find their way back to Bethlehem.
The second unfortunate incident took place while they were waiting to get transport back to Bethlehem. This time two homeless men approached the girls and forced them to a dumping site where they raped them all over again.
The homeless men had their way and released the girls who went back to the hiking spot, where they were eventually saved by a truck driver, Kareli narrated.
The first group of six men were later arrested and are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon while the two homeless men are nowhere to be found. The police opened up a case of kidnapping and rape.
