BuzzSouthAfrica has been informed by the South African Police Service (SAPS) that it’s Limpopo branch is worried about the involvement of minor children in criminal activities.
This follows the arrest of a teenager who attempted to murder her six months old baby.
As learnt, the 14-year-old girl in Bolobedu was arrested for attempted murder after she allegedly dumped her six months old baby in pit toilet.
Thanks to a passerby who noticed the discarded baby and called the police. The boy was safely removed from the toilet alive and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
While the police are still investigating the case, the suspect will appear before Bolobedu Magistrates’ Court today where she’ll face a charge of attempted murder.
SAPS called on parents to direct more efforts towards child safety. The parents were advised to inculcate close supervision and guidance in bringing up their kids.
Young girls should be taught to refrain from sexual relationships in order to avoid teenage pregnancies, instructed SAPS.
Meanwhile, a 61-year-old tavern owner arrested by Gelvandale Detectives on charges of murder and attempted murder will also be dragged to the New Law Magistrates’ Court today.
The tavern owner was arrested after a shooting at his tavern in Korsten, Port Elizabeth.
SAPS narrated that the deceased Vuyolwetu Mahili (28) and his friends were drinking at the tavern when he got into an argument with the owner of the tavern.
“The owner requested the deceased to leave the tavern when an altercation ensued and shots were fired. The deceased died on the scene.
“A 14-year-old boy, the son of the tavern owner was also injured during the shooting and sustain a wound to his neck. He was taken to hospital for treatment,” SAPS related.
