Best known for her role as Julia Motene on the SABC1 soapie Generations, Xolile Tshabalala is set to shake things up on SABC 1’s Sunday night lineup.
Xolile hopes to achieve this goal when she stars in new drama series, Ingozi on the TV station this weekend. The Generations actress will star alongside other stars including; Jet Novuka, Mmabatho Mogomotsi, Lunathi Mampofu, Senzo Radebe, Wiseman Mncube and Nkanyiso Mchunu.
After a wonderful experience working with such great talented actors, Xolile is a bit nervous but excited for fans to see the show when it makes its debut this weekend.
“I am a bit nervous about how it is going to be on screen but I really enjoyed working on the show. I was lucky to work with a number of amazing actors,” Xolile said.
Xolile’s role on the show will be that of Angela Ndamase, a wife in a wealthy family who gets caught up in riches and loses her culture in the process. Xolile who takes pride in her culture said it was difficult to step into Angela’s shoes.
“The role was a little difficult to play because I love and hold onto my culture so much. Our culture is the only thing that grounds us as a people. So, I had to find a way to wear the hat of the character and enjoy it,” Xolile added.
Meanwhile, the show will face strong competition from Mzansi Magic’s Our Perfect Wedding on Sunday evening. Nonetheless, Xolile believes that Ingozi will steal the hearts of the viewers in no time at all.
“I know that it will. Give it two episodes and you will see. It has an amazing cast that will just explode on screen. There’s something about the African audience that when something resonates with them they will fall in love with it. I believe that this will really find its way into the hearts of the people who watch it. My soul tells me that,” she said.
Watch Xolile Tshabalala on Ingozi starting this Sunday at 7:30pm on SABC 1.
