Contrary to what most people think about Donald Trump’s victory at the US polls, rapper Tumi Molekane has maintained that Americans are not idiots for voting him.
Taking to Instagram, the rapper shared his own views about Trump’s victory in the US election. Amid shock waves following Trump’s win, with people labeling those who voted for him as “stupid”, Tumi looked at the matter differently.
Amid shock waves following Trump’s win, with people labeling those who voted for him as “stupid”, Tumi looked at the matter differently.
Tumi explained that “Americans aren’t idiots” for voting Trump into power.
“Stop spreading this idea that Americans are idiots for voting a racist, sexist, bigot as president,” he wrote.
“Grow the f*** up, we all have ideals and principles that govern how we move and operate, but none of those, excuse the useless pun, trump self-interest.”
He used South Africa to buttress his point, saying that he believes there were “good” people who voted the Apartheid government into power. And they kept the National Party at the helm because they enjoyed the “privilege”.
“I am sure good people kept the National Party in power [because] they liked their privilege.
“You tweet all day about corruption but pay the traffic cop off.”
Similarly, in a lengthy Twitter rant on Wednesday, TV personality Scoop Makhathini lambasted South Africans who were tweeting their views about the US elections. He blatantly accused them of paying more attention to American politics than their own.
“WISH YOU WERE AS CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR OWN COUNTRY’S POLITICAL CLIMATE,AS YOU ARE ABOUT AMERICAS. YOU ARE SOUTH AFRICAN DAMMIT!”
Consequently, his tweets led to an uproar on Twitter as users ordered him to go and sit down. Scoop was further accused of not understanding the essence of international relations. In fact he was practically roasted by angry Twitter users.
