The popular notion is that the Economic Freedom Fighters’ leader, Julius Maleme is out to oppose everything. Especially when you can relate such things to his previous darling party – the ANC. But Juju surprised many with his reaction to the 2016 budget which frankly, hinted that Malema’s priority is not to “Pull ANC Down” but the interest of South Africa.
The unexpected praise for the Finance Minister came when the EFF leader told eNCA that his party is happy with the budget, and called on South Africans to rally behind the minister and support a perfect implementation of the budget plans.
Speaking, Malema said; “although we (EFF) may not be happy with this or that issue, but we think it is necessary to rally behind the minister’s budget.”
He acknowledged that heading the Finance portfolio in a time the economy of the country is most troubled is a difficult task and that Pravin Gordhan ought to be given all the support he can get.
Malema stressed that the highlights of the budget is a necessary intervention . “that intervention was necessary,” he said. “The Minister came to present the budget at the most difficult time when the country is facing a possibility of (being) relegated to a junk state.”

It is necessary to rally behind the minister’s budget and say to him – please don’t be partisan, let us give jobs, let us grow the economy, let us reassure the investors,” Malema inspired.
