In anticipation for success at the August 3 polls, political parties wrapped up their campaigns over the weekend with ANC final rally ground rated most star-studded.
The ruling party had a line-up of South African celebrities on their guest list and they brought their a-game to the campaign.
Hottest celebrities like AKA, Kelly Khumalo (who was recently labelled “useless” by Malema) and a host of others were out in their numbers to grace the ANC final rally ahead of the local government elections.
The ANC final rally which took place at Ellis Park was a beehive of activities with several high-profile political stalwarts in attendance. Most personalities including celebrities were spotted dressed in green, gold and black at the event.
Some celebrities like AKA make it no secret to express their support for the ANC even when fans disapprove.
Criticisms followed a picture of AKA clad in full ANC regalia which he posted on the social media.
Some of the rapper’s followers condemned his presence at the rally. There were also accusations that he was campaigning for ANC because of the money.
The rapper who has always clapped back at haters maintained his political stance as he responded to the outcry. “I make more money in 30min, on stage than I’m being paid for weeks of campaigning. So how can it be about money?” he tweeted.
He also responded to threats of not buying his music.
“If me shaking hands with the President of South Africa discourages you from buying my music, so be it.”
Meanwhile, EFF leader accused the ruling party of wasting money to hire “useless artists” who have nothing to offer.
