Lovely pictures from Kenny Kunene’s traditional wedding ceremony have flooded social media following a lavish umembeso in Kimberley on Saturday.
Kenny Kunene and his wife, Whitney Nonkululeko tied the knot the traditional way in a star-studded umembeso. Umembeso is a Zulu traditional ceremony. This forms part of the lobola negotiations where the groom gives gifts to the bride’s parents and family before the wedding.
The couple who will soon welcome their first child together had over 200 guests at the event. Popular personalities such as Khanyi Mbau and her boyfriend Tebogo Lerole were some of the star-studded guests.
Also, Tebogo’s Kwela Tebza brothers Mpho and Tshepo Lerole were in attendance, while singer Donald performed at the event.
Trust Kenny Kunene to bring style to the elaborate ceremony. Apparently, his bride arrived in a helicopter before walking down a red carpet.

“She is now officially Whitney Nonkululeko Kunene hahahaha,” Kenny tweeted. Any moment from now, the couple will welcome their baby boy into the world.
Speaking on their journey so far, Kunene said he proposed to Nonkululeko several times before she accepted. She finally said yes while they were aving a good time in Bangkok.
“We were in Bangkok last year in a restaurant overlooking the city and this time she finally agreed. We had obviously discussed marriage before but this was the first time that we had agreed on a date. When we returned to SA, we told our families,” Kenny said.
Kenny Kunene’s traditional wedding ceremony was sort of a surprise to many as he was the face of the blesser movement a few years ago. At one point, he had several girlfriends at the same time that he showed off on Noeleen’s Talk Show.
Nonetheless, the one-time “sushi king” appears to have moved on from that lifestyle. Surely, Nonkululeko has a tight grip on him.
