In a statement, ANCYL noted the call and mobilization to occupy Luthuli House by “some citizens and non South Africans who are purporting to be members of the ANCYL and the ANC.”
Regarding the individual behind the mobilization as “overzealous fellows” striving to cause disunity in the organization, ANCYL asserted that the ANC is an organization of 104 years with clear procedures.
With that, ANCYL said: “we can never allow a situation where our organization is left leaderless because of some people who purport to be concerned members.
…The current NEC must convene the next conference and account to the membership. We are particularly disappointed at the level of desperation of these stooges that have been sent to cause disorder in the organization. They have gone to the extent of mobilizing non South Africans to fraudulently join the organization in order to fern disorder and chaos.”
Based on the above, ANCYL warned foreigners that the Constitution of the ANCYL and the ANC only allows membership for South Africans.
“Those who are not South Africans must know that the forms they downloaded from the internet and filled them does not make them members. We caution all our members not to be misled by agent provocateurs who have been paid to destabilize the organization.”
Afterwards, ANCYL disclosed that its call for an early conference is currently part of the internal discussions in the organization.
The ANC NEC is currently engages structures on the issue.
Concerned members should participate in structures instead of venturing into populist adventures that would have no impact, charged the Youth League.
