South African gospel musical artist Ntokozo Mbambo has made us proud once again by falling among the nominees for the 3rd African Muzik Magazine Awards (Afrimma).
The gospels star was nominated in the best gospel category. She will be competing with some of the best gospel artists across the continent. Some of the contenders include Nigerian gospel stars Frank Edwards, Sinach, and Uche Agu. In addition, Willy Paul from Kenya, SP Koffi Sarpong and Sonnie Badu from Ghana and Toronto-based Icha Kavons from Congo also made the list.
Nominations for the international awards ceremony were announced last week. However, the ceremony will be held on October 15 in Dallas, Texas, USA.
The winner in this particular category will be decided by the voting public.
Meanwhile, Ntokozo Mbambo, who just returned from a UK tour seemed overly excited at the news. Mbambo said the nomination is a huge achievement in her career and she stands honoured.
“It is a big honour to be selected as one of the best artists who stand out on the whole continent,” she said.
Besides, the nomination means that her plans are actually working out. The award-winning gospel star has been aiming at creating a sound that appeals to both local and international audiences.
“I have managed to capture that through my music style, the message and approach.
“Being nominated is the biggest encouragement and a big pat on the back.”
Subsequently, the gossip town on social media gave her an inkling about the nomination. This was before the organizers sent her an email to inform her officially.
Mbambo started her career at age of 14 with Joyous Celebration.
Her albums include Spirit and Life (Live); Filled (Live); Keep On Believing (Live In Pietermaritzburg); Ntokozo Mbambo; Nqubeko and Ntokozo.
