Ipanema Footwear: Our Girl Bonang Matheba Scores Again!


South Africa’s ‘it’ girl Bonang Matheba is not ready to let all the negative vibes and drama making rounds this past week pull her down.

In fact, Queen B has gone ahead to score one of her biggest achievements ever.

The TV personality announced to her fans on Friday that she has been named the new brand ambassador for Brazilian footwear line, Ipanema. B will be taking over the slot from former Victoria Secret supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

An excited Bonang shared the big news with her fans and wrote;

“Yay!! Proud to announce – taking over from Giselle Bundchen, I’m the new African Brand Ambassador for Ipanema.”

Moreover, the exciting news was announced at a posh party in Sandton on Thursday night with Bonang’s family present.

Speaking at the launch party, our girl Bonang Matheba expressed her excitement about sharing the news with everyone.

In addition, she felt honoured to be a part of the brand that she loves so much and taking over from Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen as the ambassador.

“Every day South African and African women find new ways of breaking boundaries. Brands are starting to believe in South African and African personalities. I think we’re at a stage where we’re respected enough and doing well enough to carry global brands,” she said.

In addition, she also dropped a few words of encouragement for African girls to let them know that they can do it too.

“You can do it girl. You can absolutely do it girl, all eyes are on us. We are rich in content and culture and you need to capture your uniqueness and tell your story to the world because everyone is very hungry for who we are.”

She described the brand as comfortable, fresh, young and effortless which sums up to everything she stands for.
