Adv. Busisiwe Mkhwebane has come under fire for failing to execute anything since her resumption as voice of the people in 2016.
In a recent statement, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) slammed the public advocate for staying in office for the past three months with nothing to show for it.
“She is a mistake…nothing but a Gupta puppet straight from the Gupta’s kitchen” the party said about her, adding that the entire South Africans regret supporting her appointment in Parliament.
The EFF also gunned at the protector accusing her of destroying the office which was meant to dedicate it services to speaking and fighting for the common good of all South Africans.
“She is a Gupta puppet straight from the Gupta’s kitchen… once a spy always a spy. She’s proving without fail that we were wrong, please do not call her public protector,” party leader Julius Malema told reporters in Johannesburg.
“We should have listened when we were warned that Adv. Busisiwe was planted by the ANC.”he added, noting that the party i working on a plan to remove her from office.
“We were convinced that she should be given a chance, we argued that we could not replace an African woman with a male. We were wrong about her… she took over that office and immediately instructed that the TV channels in the office be changed to [Gupta-owned] ANN7 channel… if she was patriotic she should have chosen SABC channel at least, but she went for the Gupta channel,” said Malema.
President Jacob Zuma appointed her public protector last year to succeed Thuli Madonsela, following Busisiwe’s nomination by MPs, but her assumption in office has exposed her to series of cases linked to the controversial Gupta family whose name hasn’t yet been erased for the controversial State capture report reported by her predecessor, Thuli.
The DA, at the time of her appointment, raised the issue of a spy when Advocate Busisiwe was interviewed by Parliament last year, but Malema said they were giving her the benefit of the doubt.
On Monday, the public protector’s office refused to be drawn into the EFF’s or the DA’s allegations or views about the CIEX report, which pointed out suspicions over Busisiwe’s handling of the report into the South African Reserve Bank’s financial rescue of Bankorp during the apartheid era.
Malema said they were looking into plans to rescue the office of the public protector and remove Busisiwe, adding that Mkhwebane had failed to defend the office of the public protector.
“We must stop calling her the public protector and start calling her the state protector,” Malema said, adding that the EFF was waiting for the DA to take Adv. Busisiwe to court to prove its suspicions.
