Muvhango, which is South Africa’s longest-running soap opera, has been on air since April 1997. With intriguing storylines and strong characters, it has continued to reach generations of viewers and has remained a favorite among critics and fans alike.

In the Muvhango episodes of June 2023, we saw how Imani was accused of using muti to cause the deformity of Gugu’s baby. After being served divorce papers by James and kicked out of MMC, she has been bent on finding the real culprit. Will she finally succeed at proving that Tendamudzimu is behind the crime? While Gugu accuses James of missing Imani, Naledzani threatens to back out from his deal with Susan.

Finally, Gugu weeps for her unborn child. Tenda seems to be one step ahead of his opponents. And the professional world seems too overwhelming for Vhutshilo.

Vhutshilo rises above obstacles and saves the company money, nailing it at his presentation. Tenda has got Naledzani where he wants him, thinking he is a dying, repentant man, but to what end? As Gugu is in the trenches dealing with loss, MaMbatha feels there’s no time for tears but time to conceive another baby.

James throws MaMbatha out of his house as he gets infuriated when she tries to perform another ritual in the house. Naledzani commits to the plan to punish Tendamudzimu. Khumo spoils Vhutshilo’s victory by predicting that he will fail at his first project.

Lindelani’s jealousy causes her to wrongly suspect that there is romance blossoming in the life of Susan. Tendamudzimu discloses that he knew Naledzani was planning to attack him the entire time. And James accuses Gugu of destroying his happy life with Imani.

Vhutshilo sells the idea to the potential buyer. Gugu has a meltdown in the most public manner. Tenda vows to rain terror on his nemesis.

Khumo’s research clearly sabotages Vhutshilo’s project. James and Gugu are confused when they get a baby scan.

Vhutshilo convinces Asante to go through with the purchase of the building. James and Gugu find out that their pregnancy scans were forged and their baby never had an abnormality. Sergeant Neshehe tells Susan that Naledzani committed suicide.

When real evidence lands on the doorstep of the Motsamais, they get the shock of their lives. Vhutshilo finally takes a stand against his bully. Tenda gets the shock of his life when an unexpected guest pays him a visit in his ward.

Susan learns that there is a suicide note by Naledzani that is addressed to her, and she is freaked out. Khumo is forced by Vhutshilo to explain to the board how she gave them misleading information regarding the project he is heading. Gugu and James discover that Imani had nothing to do with the death of their baby – Tendamudzimu is the culprit.

Kgosi and Vhutshilo’s party is one for the books. Susan gets rid of Tenda’s burner phone and is clearly done with him. James and Gugu realize that Imani was right this whole time.

The world reacts to Tenda’s release. Vhutshilo is stunned by his new living arrangements. Gugu and James do the unthinkable and it results in a gunshot.

James is willing to be the sacrificial lamb for his family. Mpho is shaken to find an unexpected patient at her doorstep. Bubbles receive devastating news about her father.

Rendani receives a warm klap from Vhakoma. Mpho is harboring Tenda. The Motsamai wife connects the dots. Kgosi stands up for Bubbles and offers her comfort.

Kgosi throws hints at Bubbles, only to be friend-zoned. Rendani’s fight with Vho-Masindi turns ugly. Gugu and Imani are taken in for questioning concerning Tenda’s murder and they fight to prove their innocence.

Rendani’s horrid conduct appears to be influenced by a force. Vhutshilo tries to help Kgosi score, but he is a lost cause. Tenda’s recovery drives a wedge between mother and daughter.

Muvhango is Produced by Word of Mouth Pictures

Created by Duma Ndlovu, Muvhango‘s production company is Word of Mouth Pictures. The drama series is produced by Leo Phiri, Malebo Mokoena, and Herbert Hadebe, whereas Duma Ndlovu serves as the executive producer. Muvhango airs on SABC2 on weekdays (Mondays to Fridays at 21h00). Its original languages include Tshivenda, isiZulu, isiXhosa, and Sesotho.

Who is the New Face of Muvhango?

Currently going for 26 years, Muvhango‘s production company, Word of Mouth Pictures has embarked on a campaign to add fresh faces to the soapie. Hence, in April 2023, Gogo Tshinakaho Mananga joined the cast of the series as Vho-Nyadzanga, a member of the royal house.

Also, Chief Azwindini (played by Gabriel Temudzani) permanently left Muvhango in May 2023 after 23 years on the show. But due to the outcry by the fans of the soapie soon after his exit, he was reinstated to the show and made a comeback in June 2023 episodes.
