Brandi Worley Killed Her Children To Prevent Her Husband From Taking Them Away From Her

Brandi Worley

Brandi Worley had come back from the dance performance of her daughter, Charlee, and decided to pay a visit to a Walmart store located in Crawfordsville, Indiana, under the pretense of buying pipe cleaners for their son Tyler.  Unknown to anyone, she went there to actually buy a murder weapon (a Kabar combat knife).

According to pieces of evidence presented during the trial, Brandi had first hidden the knife in Tyler’s bedroom and then went on to lure him into sleeping in his sister‘s bedroom which was where she successfully murdered the children…her children.

That faithful night, Brandi had asked her husband to sleep on the couch but he preferred to sleep in the basement. Brandi, in a bid to carry out her plan, went into Charlee’s room and first murdered her son Tyler by stabbing him several times in the neck. Charlee on seeing this asked out of fear what she was doing but Brandi ordered her to go back to sleep.

When she had successfully murdered her son, she went on and stabbed her daughter Charlee to death. When she was done, Brandi also stabbed herself and then picked up the phone and dialed 9-1-1 to report the murders stating that she had taken in lots of Benadryl and had just stabbed herself and killed her two children. She also went ahead to call her mother which she had told the 9-1-1 dispatcher.

Brandi Worley’s mother on getting to her daughter’s house confirmed to the 9-1-1  dispatcher what had happened. It was her scream on reaching the room where the children were lying cold covered in their blood that alerted Jason to wake up. By the time Jason got to see his children’s dead bodies, Brandi made a statement to him “Now you can’t take the kids from me”.

The police arrived at the crime scene by 4:30 a.m and an autopsy was conducted on the dead bodies to fully ascertain the cause of death. This was carried out at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. The autopsy result showed both children were stabbed repeatedly.

Brandi when asked why she had murdered her two children responded that her husband wanted a divorce from her and had threatened to take the kids along with him so instead of him taking her kids she opted to kill them.

A vigil was held at Congregational Christian Church on November 18th, 2016, for the departed souls, and both children were later buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington.

Brandi was later admitted to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where she received treatment for the self-inflicted injuries she got from stabbing herself.
