He played football during his school days and aspired to become a sports writer. He later took the coaching path and started out as a graduate assistant coach on Brigham University’s football coaching staff in 1981.

In the years that followed, Reid coached several colleges. He later landed a position in the NFL in 1992. He has since served as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs and won the Super Bowl as head coach of the Chiefs in 2020.

Tammy Reid and Andy Reid Began Dating During College and Wed in 1982

Tammy and Andy Reid first crossed paths during a fundamentals of tennis class at Brigham University in 1980. They took notice of each other and Tammy was instantly impressed by Reid’s confidence and waited for him to ask her out. They started by embarking on casual meet-ups to play badminton and racquetball. On the 7th of December 1980, they had their first date.

The couple’s relationship progressed at full speed from then on, with Reid introducing Tammy to his parents. He was also inspired by her life and converted to her Mormon faith. The couple later got engaged and wed upon graduating college. Tammy married Andy on the 8th of August 1982 in a modest ceremony that featured friends and family.

The Couple Remain Together to Date 

Tammy Reid is still married to Andy Reid. They have been together for over 40 years now and have an enviable and solid union. Tammy Reid has wholeheartedly supported her husband’s coaching career. When they were newly married in the 80s, he had to change jobs multiple times. This necessitated them relocating severally, some on short notice, but she never complained and handled it all.

Tammy also stayed by her husband’s side even when they faced financial difficulties in the early years. Her husband’s early paychecks were a pittance and he had to moonlight as an umpire to make extra cash. She still supported him and did her best to help out.

In doing this, Tammy Reid contributed to her husband’s present success and he appreciates her. He has lovingly referred to her as his girlfriend and the best trophy he has ever won. He has also had Tammy by his side on important occasions such as the 2020 Super Bowl.

Tammy Reid and Andy Reid have Welcomed a Total of Five Children

Tammy Reid has five children with her husband. She and the NFL coach welcomed their first child, a son named Garett, on the 13th of April 1983. Their second child, a son named Britt followed in 1985. The couple’s other kids are Crosby (a daughter born in 1988), Drew Ann (a daughter born in 1992), and Spencer (a son born in 1993).

Tammy Reid’s children are all grown up and college-educated and are thriving. Some of them are married with kids and some have also followed their father’s footpath. Spencer, for instance, has worked as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Colorado State University while Britt has worked as an outside linebacker’s coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tammy Reid often refers to herself as the head coach of the Reid family as she primarily took care of the responsibilities on the home front. She has, however, revealed that her husband was a great dad who was always present when needed.

The Couple Lost Their First Child, Garett, in 2012

Tammy Reid and Andy Reid have also experienced some grief and the worst has to be the death of their first son, Garett. He started using drugs at the age of 19 and all the efforts he made to get clean failed. Tammy and Andy also tried to get help for Garett and even accompanied him to rehab facilities.

It was, however, hard for him to conquer his demons. He was jailed for being in possession of drugs in 2007 and eventually overdose in 2012. Tammy Reid and her husband had to fall back on their Christian faith to get through the whole anguish.

Tammy Reid is a Quilt Collector and Former Jewelry Designer

Tammy has spent much of her time as a homemaker but she has also been involved in some pursuits outside the home front. She previously had a custom costume jewelry business known as Everything Bling. She also spent some time as a teacher.

However, she is now an avid quilt collector. She has numerous quilts, including antique ones and has exhibited them at museums in Missouri. Her quilts have also been captured in a full-length book published in 2022.

Andy Reid’s Wife is also a Philanthropist and an Advocate 

Tammy Reid is also a philanthropist. She has used her visibility as the wife of a popular football coach to support charities and promote causes close to her heart. One such cause is the fight against domestic violence. Tammy has undergone a 45-hour training program to become a certified domestic violence advocate. She has also supported the Laurel House Montgomery County Women’s Shelter.
