Michael Lockwood’s net worth is $5 million. The American musician, instrumentalist, music producer, and collaborator earned his fortune from playing the guitar as a band member, producing tracks and albums for musicians, and launching his music imprint.

Lockwood started his music career while still in his early twenties as a member of the band Lions and Ghosts. He later went on to form his own band and delve into music production. Mike increased his sources of revenue by launching his own record label and has done a plethora of successful collaborations with musicians of high standing.

How Much is Michael Lockwood Worth?

Several online sources have revealed Michael Lockwood’s fortune to be $5 million. However, nothing is known about his monthly and annual remunerations, which they say is difficult to calculate since the celebrity guitarist earns from multiple sources.

As earlier mentioned, Lockwood is a musician, an instrumentalist with expertise in strumming the strings of a guitar, and a music producer. The celebrated musician is also listed as a collaborator as he has done several successful collaborations with big names in the music industry. Notable among Lockwood’s collaborations are his numerous gigs with his ex-wife, Lisa Marie Presley.

A Look at How The Guitarist Made His Money

Michael Lockwood Started Earning Big Bucks from an Early Age

Information gathered from Michael Lockwood’s professional website states that the American musician started his music career early. Mike was barely in his early twenties during the 1980s when the then-aspiring musician joined a band known as Lions and Ghosts.

The other band members have never been mentioned, and it is likely that none of them continued with music. Putting their show on the road, the group inked a deal with EMI America, a then-new record label formed as a sister to the famous Capitol Records from EMI.

As a signee of EMI America, Lions and Ghosts made some admirable headway by dropping their first album, Velvet Kiss, Lick of the Lime, in 1987. Two years after their debut album was released, the music band went ahead to drop their second studio album entitled, Wild Garden in 1989.

Reports said both of their albums were critically acclaimed but unfortunately, Lions and Ghosts couldn’t hold it together for very long and ended up disbanding immediately after their second studio album was released.

It is impossible to quantify the exact amount that Michael Lockwood raked in from his time as a member of Lions and Ghosts, but the celebrated guitarist had a good start that opened inroads into other deals and collaborations.

He Co-founded the Music Group Wink

After his first band got disbanded, Michael collaborated with musicians like Brian Keats, Tony Babylon, and his namesake, Michael Marquesan, in launching another music group called Wink.

Wink was a local power pop band, but the songs they produced under that moniker were not captured by any sources. This may be because they weren’t popular.

Michael Lockwood Made a Huge Fortune as a Music Producer

Michael Lockwood later went to try his hands at music production, and today, his gigs as a producer take the credit for contributing a significant portion of his income.

For nearly one decade, the American musician worked with Aimee Mann, and the collaboration resulted in the production of four studio albums in 1994, 1995, 2000, and 2002.

With popular musician, Carly Simon, he contributed to the production of three albums in 2000, 2002, and 2008. Other Grammy Award-winning artists he worked with include the likes of Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles and Fiona Apple.

Michael also takes the credit for producing Lisa Marie Presley’s second studio album, Now What, which was released from the stables of Capitol Records in the United States on the 5th of April 2005.

Apart from the aforementioned, Lockwood collaborated with several other musicians to produce their music studio albums. He worked with Salt-n-Pepa in producing the 1997 album, Brand New, and with Bijou Phillips, he worked on the 2000 album, I’d Rather Eat Glass.

He Launched His Own Record Label Company in 2022

In 2022, Michael Lockwood deemed himself ready to float his own music imprint, which was how Sparkle Plenty Records was birthed. The record label was a successful collaboration with his then-manager, Jeff Keller. Sparkle later partnered with Deko Entertainment, and together, they signed the popular musician, Bird Streets.

He Has Also Made Money as an Instrumentalist

Mike also made a lot of money from working with renowned American vocalist and songwriter Lisa Marie Presley. Michael functioned as her guitarist for her third studio album, Storm & Grace. The studio album released in the United States of America and Canada on the 15th of May 2012 came, seven years after Lisa dropped her previous album, Now What. Universal Republic was responsible for dropping the album.

Michael Lockwood never mentioned how much he was paid as the guitarist for the album Storm & Grace, but according to sources, the American Instrumentalist was handsomely rewarded, especially as the album proved to be quite popular with its first song, You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet.

From what is obvious, Michael Lockwood’s divorce from his ex-wife, Lisa Marie Presley, had no financial implications. According to trusted sources, the celebrity duo locked heads in a fierce battle for the custody of their twin daughters after they filed for a divorce.

Sometime in February 2017, Lisa revealed that their daughters had to be taken into protective custody; this happened after the female vocalist reported she searched her ex’s personal computer and discovered inappropriate images of children. In her filing, Lisa challenged Michael’s request for spousal support.

Even though the public was not intimated about the outcome of the spousal request from Mike, it was revealed that both exes got 50/50 custody of their daughter after the divorce proceedings were finalized in 2021. However, following Lisa’s death in 2023, Lockwood gained full custody of the twins in March of the same year.
