Kelly Ronahan is a ballet dancer and trainer of Canadian origin who drew public attention in 2014 after she took to TikTok to announce her horrible experience to the world. Kelly was afflicted by an unknown disease that kept making her hemoglobin level go lower, and there was also the case of her swollen legs that led the doctors to amputate them. The strangeness of her condition led many to conclude she was suffering from Munchausen’s Syndrome; however, her condition was real.

While she was getting medical treatment, the Canadian dancer leveraged her socials to update fans and get the necessary help from them. Many sympathizers rallied around her to donate blood when she desperately needed a blood transfusion, and people kept giving her a lot of moral support. Kelly Ronahan started making the rounds after she became the victim of an unknown ailment. It all started in 2014 when the ballet dancer cum trainer asked for a weekly blood transfusion in a bid to regulate what was described as “a mysterious blood disease”.

The ailment was tagged mysterious because even the specialists couldn’t decipher why Kelly’s hemoglobin levels continued falling weekly.

A couple of years later, in March 2016, she had already been transfused with above 95 liters of blood donated by well-wishers. Talking in an interview session, Kelly stated she receives about three bags of blood bi-weekly, and only that donation comes from three people just to save her life. Talking further, the ballet trainer stated that the blood transfusion is what is keeping her alive otherwise, her organs would likely start failing, and she would be dead within one month or six weeks max.

Even with the massive blood transfusion, Kelly Ronahan’s health condition continued to deteriorate, putting an end to her career as a ballet dancer and trainer. She took to Instagram to be sharing her health update and was receiving showers of support from her online family whenever she went.

A few months down the line, in July 2016, Kelly got admitted into the health facility after she experienced a seizure, prompting fans to organize a blood drive on her behalf. However, a short while later, rumors ran rife that her physicians discovered she was actually faking the seizures and discharged her.

During the early part of 2017, her port got infected, leading to sepsis. Kelly took to Instagram to reveal that she battling with exercise obsession and eating disorders. She also disclosed how she harmed herself prior to falling sick

The doctors had to keep Kelly Ronahan under close monitoring for three weeks after her port got infested for the second time. Unfortunately, towards the time she was to be discharged, the ballet dancer developed a rash accompanied by seizure.

In April 2017, she visited the hospital for a totally different reason, but the doctors drew her blood and conducted tests that confirmed that Kelly’s hemoglobin level had returned to normal. This led the specialist to remove her port, as further blood transfusion would not be needed. A month later, she started experiencing swelling in her feet, and blisters started appearing out of nowhere. It was said that Kelly impulsively picked on her wound, which made them bigger as well as worse.

The news soon hit the internet space, triggering speculations that the dancer had been faking it all this while. Reacting to the speculations, Kelly wasted no time in denying it, accusing her physicians of scheming against her.

The speculations were really vicious, and there was one really bizarre internet claim that said she injected her legs with feces to induce sepsis.

The claim that Kelly Ronahan fully recovered in 2017 came to naught in the early part of 2018 after following the reappearance of her leg condition. Despite the fact that she had no supportive evidence, the ballet dancer blamed it on uterine fibroids and Munchausen syndrome, a mental disorder whereby an individual fakes an ailment or deliberately displays symptoms of illness. The goal is to act sick so as to draw attention and sympathy from people. There was a time she requested painkillers to douse her pains, but this request was declined by her doctors.

At this point, Kelly claimed to need a hysterectomy in order to eliminate fibroids while the rumors of her fake ailment were gaining ground. By the middle of 2018, she was in a worse condition as the scabs turned into bigger wounds. Complications resulted in the form of blisters on the hands and more seizures. This made the doctors really worried about blood circulation issues and possible nerve damage.

The early part of 2019 saw Kelly diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, leading her to receive skin grafts the same year, and her condition appeared to improve. In April, Ronahan updated fans that she was just completing her first walk in months.

Reports said Kelly Ronahan’s had several specialists attending to her at the hospital yet non succeeded in getting to the root of her ailment. As time rolled by, she reportedly started losing feeling in both legs and ankles. The large size of her swollen legs was setting her recovery backward, and she kept on interrupting the process of recovery by picking on her wounds.

When the doctors couldn’t discover what was swelling her legs up and couldn’t find any cure for her condition, they ultimately decided to go for amputation, especially after one of her toes fell off.

Following the surgery, the ballet dancer decided to reduce her appearance on social media after revealing she was going to get prosthetics for her two legs.

The last update she gave on Instagram was seen in April 2021, where she said something that had to do with compensating for her inner beauty. However, in recent times, nothing has been heard from her. There was a time that several internet sources speculated that she passed on, but this is yet to be proven.
