Kid Cudi’s Sexuality Has Been Questioned
Kid Cudi is regarded as one of the most talented rappers in the United States today who has had a telling influence on several contemporary hip-hop and alternative acts.
The singer has been harshly criticized for different reasons, including his recently discarded drug abuse and alcohol dependency, which he claimed helped him combat the mental health issues he struggled with as a child.
Over time though, questions about whether the rapper was gay or not have also been raised. At the time, the questions didn’t linger, but six years down the line, Kid Cudi once again made people curious to know his sexuality when he appeared as a musical guest at an episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL) on April 10, 2021, dressed in an off-white floral dress.
On November 10, 2021, Kid’s outfit to the CFDA 2021 Awards in New York City further gave those pushing the opinion that he was gay more ammunition. On that particular occasion, the rapper wore a complete wedding gown ensemble with a veil and sneakers, all white. As expected, several social media users came out in droves to poke fun at the rapper while some others accused him of lacking the courage to finally acknowledge the fact that he was gay.
There Is an Explanation For Kid Cudi’s Outfits
The Sunday following his April 10, 2021 performance at SNL, Kid Cudi debunked the rumors about his being gay by revealing that he was a straight heterosexual man. When he was pressed about his choice of attire at the SNL episode,he explained that he had worn the outfit as a tribute to the late Kurt Cobain.
He further explained that his feelings about seeing Kurt Cobain perform in a dress had been inspirational and that performing in a dress was something he had always hoped to accomplish for years. In addition, he claimed it was meant to inspire kids everywhere that it was okay for them to be themselves irrespective of what people thought of them.
Kurt further acknowledged that his move would anger several of his colleagues and he was right because for a while, many of them, particularly black male rappers, didn’t want to work with him until Lil Nas X extended an invitation for a work relationship in a bid to supposedly dispel the homophobic shadow hanging over hip hop.
Several of Kid Cudi’s detractors have claimed that he is a gay man who doesn’t know how to come out and just say so. He doesn’t seem to care about the rumors though and continues to flaunt his eye-catching outfits.
Is Kid Cudi Married?
Kid Cudi is not married and the singer has never been married either. Amidst all the gay rumors trailing him, his relationship history shows that he has only dated women in the past. But even with the overwhelming evidence that includes his countless relationships with members of the fairer sex, Cudi’s detractors still believe he is hiding his true identity.
The rapper recently addressed his marital status when he spoke to Esquire about people thinking he enjoyed being single while for him the reverse has always been the case. He stated that he hoped to get married someday and have more kids. His statement about having more kids gave away the fact that the rapper was already a father.
Kid keeps his life private but his interview with Esquire revealed the value he placed on family and did nothing to disguise the fact that he loved children. He has one child, a daughter named Veda Wemwane Mescudi, with one of his ex-girlfriends, Jacqueline Munyasya. He spoke about how difficult it was for him to be away from Veda his daughter during the 2020 pandemic year.
Having a daughter with Jacqueline was the closest the rapper ever came to settling down to married life and having a family of his own. It was not to be, however, as he was still struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, and Jacqueline’s attempts to keep him away from his daughter resulted in a bitter custody battle that ended with Jacqueline getting primary custody of their child.
She and Kid Cudi later worked out visitation rights after the rapper had gone to therapy to deal with his issues. To be closer to his child, the entertainer bought a house in Chicago and this has enabled both of them to spend more time with each other.
Who Is Kid Cudi’s Girlfriend?
Kid Cudi is not in any romantic relationship at the moment. Granted, the rapper likes to play his cards to his chest when it comes to issues regarding his private life, but nothing suggests that he is currently seeing anyone romantically. His most recent relationship was with actress and costume designer, Raquel Deriane.
