Private Nursing Colleges In South Africa

With nurses making up the largest component of most healthcare environments, nursing ranks as one of the scarce critical skills needed globally. As a result, most matric students in South Africa opt to study nursing either in universities or private nursing colleges. The profession ranks as one of the most lucrative jobs in the country, where a nurse reportedly earns a monthly salary between R13,000 and R38,000.

Interestingly, nursing graduates can easily find a job in SA. They don’t necessarily have to work in the hospital. Nowadays, nurses are being employed by companies, institutions, and schools. As nurses have their scope of practice and training, many private nursing colleges in South Africa now offer courses that equip students with the standard approach to patient care.

Conclusion

South Africa boasts several private nursing colleges that also comprise some private hospitals across the country. It is worth noting that after gaining a nursing qualification in these nursing colleges, nursing graduates need to undergo one year of mandatory community service, after which they are required to sit for the South African Nursing Council exam, which will enable them to register with SANC if successful.

Gaining nursing qualification alone is not enough for nursing graduates to qualify to work as registered Enrolled nurses or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliaries in South Africa. Still, registration with SANC enables one to work as a registered nurse in the country.
