Gugulethu Zuma-Ncube might have caught the attention of many as an actress and producer. Still, she is even more famous as the daughter of the former president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma. Born into a political family, it is not surprising that she decided to get married into another political family as far back as 2008 when she walked down the aisle with Zimbabwean politician’s son, Wesley Ncube.

The couple has been together since they got hitched more than two decades ago. While their marriage is going well, they have also continued their involvement in politics.

Wesley Ncube and Gugulethu Zuma-Ncube first met when they were both students at the University of Cape Town. Ncube was studying Statistics and Mathematics when they met. They would go on to date for a while before finally deciding to get married.

How they met and how long they dated is unknown, but by the time they got married, Gugulethu was already an actress. She first gained fame in 2007 when she got her role in SABC’s Interrogation Room. It was followed by another role in Isidingo, and since then, she has continued to rise in her career.

Their Wedding Was Termed Wedding of the Year

With the actress as the daughter of Jacob Zuma and Wesley the son of a prominent politician in Zimbabwe, the wedding of the two, which held in Pretoria, South Africa, was graced by the crème de la crème of politics in both countries, as well as business people, and other celebrities.

Even though the ceremony was a private event graced by not more than 200 guests, it was only the high and mighty that were present. It was said to be a well-lavished ceremony in the home of her mother, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma. Before the white wedding, there was an umembeso, a traditional exchanging of gifts between the two families, a day before the main event. The former president also hosted the slaughtering of a cow, umemulo, in his village of Nkandla as a symbol that he had given his daughter out in marriage.

After the South African affair, a second ceremony was held for the two in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on 27 December 2008. This also attracted many big names and faces in politics. Nonetheless, not many details were made available on the ceremony that took place in Zimbabwe.

The Couple Has Kept All Details About Their Kids Private

After more than 10 years of marriage, it is challenging to reveal whether the marriage between the mathematician and actress has produced any kids. Although Wesley Bongani Ncube has described himself as a father, among other things on social media, it is not known if they actually have any kids together.

While Wesley has kept details regarding their children on a low, so also has Gugu, who is the more popular and vocal one on social media. The two have continued to ensure that nothing to that effect gets to the public domain as they only share their pictures without including any child.

While it is known that Jacob Zuma, who is a father of as many as 23 kids, is a grandfather of many, it remains uncertain whether any of his grandkids is from his daughter’s marriage to Wesley.

Gugulethu and her husband both live and work in Johannesburg, South Africa. As much as possible, the notoriously private couple have continued to make sure that all about their life as a married couple stays away from the media and the social media, even though they are not inactive on various platforms.

Nonetheless, it is no secret that more than a decade after they walked down the aisle, they continue to enjoy their marriage and seem to be very much happy about each other, judging by the posts of Wesley on social media. On the other hand, Gugu hardly posts anything personal on social media apart from her work and a few jokes she shares.

While celebrating their 12th year of marriage, Wesley took to his Facebook to gush over his wife, thanking his wife for all the adventures and fun they had had through the years. In addition to that, the lovely couple has always attended events together and has, from time to time, share lovely pictures with their followers.

They both also seem to enjoy supporting each other in their different endeavors, considering how Wesley always promotes his wife’s works through all means available to him. More so, they do not have any known issue as a couple that blew to public knowledge.

Wesley Ncube Is From A Political Family But Is Not A Politician

Although, as already stated, Wesley Ncube is from a famous political family in Zimbabwe, he is still yet to make any political move, even though his wife is also from a very political family in South Africa.

Wesley’s father, Professor Welshman Ncube, is, among many other things, a lawyer, businessman, and politician. He served as the President of the Zimbabwean political party Movement for Democratic Change. At the moment, the older Ncube, who has contested to lead the country but lost to former President Robert Mugabe in 2013, is MDC Alliance’s third Vice President. When he contested to lead the country, he enjoyed some level of support from Zuma’s South Africa when the latter pushed for an end to the former’s exclusion in the election.

Respected for his negotiation skills and straightforwardness, Wesley’s father served as the country’s Minister of Industry and Commerce under Mugabe from 2009 to 2013. He had several differences with his son’s father-in-law, Jacob Zuma, when he was still in Power. Ncube criticized Zuma during the xenophobic attacks in the country when the then South African president accused neighboring countries of fuelling such attacks.

Even with a man like that as a father, Wesley has not shown any interest in politics, at least for now. More importantly, he doesn’t live in the country but rather in South Africa with his wife, where he seems to be enjoying his work as a mathematician, at least for now.

Similarly, Gugulethu Zuma-Ncube, who has both parents as accomplished politicians in South Africa, doesn’t seem to be drawn to politics. So it is safe to say neither of the two may tow the paths of their political parents.
