Kalecia Williams (January 1, 2004 – December 26, 2020) was a young American TikToker from Atlanta, Georgia, who was famous for her dance videos and docu-series about her everyday life on the video-sharing app.
Kalecia Pinky Williams was shot dead on 26 December 2020 by her boyfriend while filming a video live on her TikTok at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Atlanta.Â
Sadly, death came knocking on the door of the Williams family of Atlanta, Georgia, when they lost their young, vibrant daughter, who was only 16 years old at the time of her death. This article talks about the life of Kalecia Williams and what exactly happened to her as many to date do not know what transpired.
Kalecia Williams was 16 Years Old When She was Murdered
As mentioned earlier, Kalecia Williams was from Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America. The late TikToker was born to her parents on January 1st, 2004, which means she was 16 years old at the time of her death in 2020. Her mother’s name was April Smith, while her father’s name remains unknown. Late Ms. Williams was raised by her mother and her stepfather, Romney Savoy, after her biological parents were separated.
While she was alive, Kalecia, fondly called “Pinky,” was very private about most aspects of her early life despite being very vocal and active on social media. This is why there is no information on her parents and family background. In the same vein, we do not know so much about the school she attended, but at the time of her death, Kalecia Williams was in high school.
She was a Social Media Influencer
Kalecia Williams was a fast-rising TikTok influencer before she died. She became popular for posting videos on her TikTok account. Her videos were mainly dance videos where her performing trending dance steps and they went viral online, which resulted in her becoming popular.
She was also known for documentary videos of her everyday life as a young teen, capturing the hearts of many as her followers grew in numbers.
Kalecia Williams was Murdered in December 2020
On this fateful day, 26 December 2020, at 12:30 a.m., tragedy struck the Williams family of Atlanta, Georgia. The family had received a call from the hospital morgue asking them to come to identify the corpse of their daughter before she was put into the morgue.
Before the occurrence of this sad incident, the teenager had gotten an invitation from one of her friends named Infiniti to attend a Christmas party. Infiniti’s mother had also taken time to talk to Kalecia’s parents to get their permission for Kalecia to participate in the party, assuring them that she would be the chaperone to ensure the girls behaved themselves and were safe.
Based on the assurance Infiniti’s mother had given the parents of the deceased they allowed their daughter to go to the girls-only event as Infiniti’s mother had said. However, by the time the party started, two boys were let into the girls-only event.
Before that, Kalecia had gotten to the party venue earlier than others and was taken to a hotel at Hyatt Regency alongside some other kids. When the party had ended at around midnight, the deceased left the venue of the party and headed back to her room at the Hyatt Agency, then began recording her usual TikTok video, which she uploaded on her page.
However, her fans who connected with her live noticed that Kalecia Williams’ TikTok video stopped within seconds after a boy suddenly walked into her room. They got into a heated argument, and in minutes all people could hear was a gunshot as the boy shot her.
People also lodging in the hotel heard the gunshot sound and quickly rushed out to know what was happening only to find Kalecia Williams lying on the floor soaked in her own blood. Two men quickly rushed to help get her body to the lobby and called the police to report the emergency situation.
By the time the police arrived at the scene of the crime, the TikTok star was no longer breathing, and they could not detect any pulse. The police rushed her to the hospital for immediate attention, and while the medical staff tried their best to save her, she died a few hours later.
The Events Leading to Her Death are Controversial
There were lots of controversies surrounding Kalecia Williams’ death. First, the venue of the party was said to be an Airbnb and not a hotel. However, the reason for the change to Hyatt Regency instead of the agreed Airbnb is still not clear.
Again, Kalecia Williams was shot dead, and Infiniti’s mother, who claimed she was going to chaperone the party, did not call her parents to inform them of what had happened to their daughter. Rather, it was the morgue attendant that contacted the parents of the deceased the next day to come to identify her body as they have been waiting for them before she would be taken into the morgue.
One can imagine the kind of shock it was for Kalecia’s parents to hear such news. Quickly the parents of the deceased rushed to the hospital’s morgue, and indeed their daughter, who was so full of life with many dreams and aspirations for the future, was dead. After they were done with the hospital, Kalecia’s parents also rushed to the crime scene to get answers about what happened to their daughter.
Only to get there and get details of what happened. To their amazement, none of what Infiniti’s mother told them when she came to seek their permission for Kalecia to be at the party was true. She was not there to chaperone the teenage girls at the party, boys were let into an only-girls party, and the girls stayed at Hyatt Regency and not Airbnb.
This has raised a lot of questions as the parents of the deceased called out Infiniti’s mother to explain to them the reasons for her suspicious actions and why she did not inform them of the death of their daughter.
To get to the root cause of their daughter’s death, Kalecia’s parents signed for an autopsy to be carried out on her body. The autopsy on her body revealed that the young lady was sexually assaulted before she was shot dead. She also had a gunshot wound on her groin.
Police investigations carried out showed that the person in the TikTok video she was recording before the incident occurred was Kerie Brown.
Her Murderer Bagged a One-year Jail Term
Upon several investigations, the police were able to apprehend the culprit, who happened to be a teenage boy named Kerie Brown. He had attended the party and lost control after arguing with the deceased, which led to him shooting her.
Brown was arrested and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault. As a teenager, he was also charged with underage and illegal possession of a weapon and reckless conduct. He was booked into the Metro Youth Detention Center, where he served a one-year jail term.
Many had wondered why he was released after just one year as the case of murder is a serious crime, but it seems Kalecia Williams’ parents are not bothered as they are trying to come to terms with the fact that their daughter is no more.
Kalecia Williams was Buried The Next Day After She was Murdered
Kalecia Williams’ funeral was conducted the next day following her murder. As decided by the family, the burial event was held at the Life Changing Work of Faith Church, Washington road. To date, December 26, 2020, will never be forgotten by the Williams family, and what happened to Kalecia Williams is an eye-opener to parents and many teenage girls.
