The discovery of their affair led to Betty’s death as the lady confronted her with the information. On the surface, Candy came across as a normal church-going American woman. However, her outward personality was revealed to be a façade after her spate of extra-marital affairs came to light during her murder trial.

Candy Montgomery’s Affair with Allan Gore Was Her First

During her trial for the murder of her best friend, Betty Gore, Candy Montgomery confirmed that her extra-marital affair with Allan Gore was actually her first.

The duo connected at church during community volleyball games and other church functions in 1978 when they commenced a secret affair. Candy and Allan would normally meet at one local motel weekly, and at the end of the day, they will split the cost between them.

Their illicit affair continued till 1979 when Betty Gore had her second daughter, which made Allan call for the end of his affair with Candy. Betty eventually got wind of the goings-on and confronted her friend with the information on June 13th, 1980. The ensuing face-off led Candy to stab Betty with a three-foot-long axe 41 times, resulting in her death.

Candy was subsequently tried but found not guilty of murder. Her story gave rise to a series that went on to become quite famous.

Who Else did Candy Montgomery have an Affair with after Allen?

After Allen, Candy Montgomery also has an affair with Sherry Cleckler’s husband. Her case made people wonder whether she was engaged in other affairs, and the question was answered when the female axe murderer was arraigned for the murder of her friend Betty.

The prosecution asked whether Candy’s affair with Allan was her first, and she answered yes; when she asked whether it was the last one, the axe murderer hesitated in giving an answer for fear of hurting the family of the man involved.

Candy did have an affair with Sherry Cleckler’s husband. Sherry was also a very close friend of the axe murderer apart from Betty. They were equally business partners and confided in each other a lot.

When Candy Montgomery finally consented to talk about her second extramarital affair, she hinted that they dated briefly, and their relationship started in early November and ended in mid-December 1989. It also happened that Sherry, who was present at the court sitting, was quick in decoding that Candy was referring to her husband as she looked rather distraught throughout the session and abruptly left before the end of the sitting. Candy’s husband, Pat Montgomery, even joked that Sherry must have left in a hurry to go and stop Candy from getting close to her husband.
