Mulatto (also known as Latto) is hands down one of the hottest female rappers out of the music industry right now. Ever since the Atlanta native won the first season of The Rap Game in 2016, she has gone on to drop several hit singles, including the platinum-selling, Bitch from da Souf. Mulatto’s Father, Shayne Pitts, is African-American

Mulatto’s father is an African-American man named Shayne Pitts. He is originally from Columbus, Ohio, and studied psychology at Columbus State University from 1999 to 2000. There is no word on whether Shayne Pitts completed his degree but he has nevertheless built a diverse career for himself.

He has a love for beautiful old-school cars and owns several in popping candy colors. He previously supplied these cars for several rappers, including the likes of Ciara, to use in their music videos back in the day. Mulatto’s dad also runs a basement cleaning company known as Pittsopenenterprise. He is also the CEO and founder of pittsopenentertainment. The operations of the company are not really available but a look at Pitts’ Instagram page will show that he is the manager of a songwriter/artist known as Solar Galexy and a singer/songwriter known as Wildlyfe.

Mulatto’s Mom, Misti, is Caucasian

Mulatto’s mom, Misti, doesn’t maintain much social media presence making it hard to gain an insight into her background. What we do however know is that she is also a native of Ohio and is caucasian. She was born around the year 1983 and got pregnant with her first child while she was 15 years old. This affected her education but she was able to gain a regular job and help out with her family, raising two beautiful and thriving daughters in the process.

Mulatto’s parents first met and began dating in the late 90s. They were still in high school then and their romance raised a lot of eyebrows as a result of their racial differences. They nevertheless stuck together and when they got pregnant with Mulatto, they decided to go ahead and have the child. By the time their child was two, they moved out to Atlanta, Georgia, for better opportunities. It couldn’t have been easy for Mulatto’s parents by any stretch of the imagination.

They had to contend with the issue of racism. They also had to deal with financial issues and were quite poor. Despite all this, they never left each other’s side and went on to formally tie the knot. They also welcomed another child together and were able to make a good life for them. Mulatto’s parents remain together till this very day and on the 30th of April 2018, her father posted a throwback picture of his and Misti and described her as his ride or die, my better half, wife, and parachute.

Mulatto’s Parents Inspired and Supported Her Rap Journey From the Onset

Mulatto grew up in Atlanta and fell in love with poetry as a child. She later switched to rap music as a result of her father’s influence. He regularly listened to hip hop. He also took her along when supplying cars for music videos for the likes of Ciara. All this robbed off on the young Mulatto and she grew up listening to the likes of Tupac, Bone Thugs, N.W.A, and Nicki Minaj. She started penning rap lyrics by the age of eight and communicated her decision to be a rapper to her parents.

Her parents were impressed with her talent but they were none too happy with her career choice. Her father, for instance, wanted her to be a drag racer but he later relented and joined hands with her mom to support her. Mulatto’s dad covered his car’s bodywork with banners promoting her music and social media handles. He and her mom also put their hard-earned money and time into supporting her music.

They gladly drove her to different cities where she performed and recorded. They also made the tough decision to allow her to drop out of conventional school for online classes. It was a tough call to make but thankfully all the family’s hard work paid off as Mulatto’s profile rose over the years. She eventually landed a spot on The Rap Game and this marked the breakthrough that her career needed.

Mulatto Regularly Showers Praises and Gifts on her Parents

With platinum singles and big-name collaborations to her name, Mulatto is now a full-fledged music superstar. She has however not forgotten her parents or all that they did for her. She remains quite close to them and they manage various aspects of her career. Her mom, for instance, manages the business side of her career and the singer has revealed she prefers the arrangement to a total stranger.

Mulatto also uses social media to shower love on her family. She regularly sends them shout-outs on important days such as their birthdays, father’s day, and mother’s day. On the occasion of mother’s day in May 2020, she described her mom as her world. Mulatto has also been showering gifts on her family members. For instance, in December 2020, she surprised her mom with a luxury car for Christmas. She had previously revealed that she prefers spending money on her family rather than herself.

The Rapper’s Only Sibling, Brooklyn Nikole, is a Model

Another person that Mulatto holds quite dear to her heart is her only sibling, a sister named Brooklyn Nikole. Brooklyn was born in July 2002 and a look at their father’s Instagram page will reveal that she is quite a talented volleyball player and played varsity volleyball. She has also pursued her college degree at Georgia State University. Brooklyn Nikole is also pursuing a career as a model.

A look at her own Instagram page will reveal dozen of beautifully-taken photos. She has also had the opportunity to work for brands such as Savage Fenty. Mulatto is quite close to her sister and always gushes over her on social media. She also gifted her a car in December 2020. The two sisters live together and Brooklyn often accompanies Mulatto on media rounds. They even have matching diamond Cuban-link necklaces and Mulatto has stated that her sister “aint leaving her side“.
