Baby Luke Richard Bagshawe eventually joined the human race on a Saturday, the 10th of March 2018, amidst celebrations in the family. Iris was already heading towards her second birthday at 21 months when she became a big sister. The public got to hear Luke’s birth announcement via the UK media outlet, The Sunday Times. A rep from Redmayne confirmed the good news to PEOPLE.
Luke’s middle name, Richard, was given in honor of his paternal grandfather, Richard Charles Tunstall Redmayne; it is German and means strong ruler. His first name Luke which means light giving is Greek.

Since he welcomed his first daughter in 2016, Eddie Redmayne has been going on about how he is taking his new status seriously. The father of two prides himself on a “hands-on-dad and describes the experience as wonderful and amazing. According to Eddie, all the stuff he has heard for years about raising babies is not just true but utterly extraordinary.
Baby Iris was barely six months old in November 2016 when the proud papa showed up on the set of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about the happiness and sleep deprivation associated with becoming a parent. Before he embraced fatherhood, Eddie said he often heard people talk about not getting adequate sleep, and all of a sudden, he was the one floating in a continuous jet lagged [sense], complete with an IV of caffeine.
Elucidating further, Redmayne described the experience as “that amazing thing when it is just 3 am in the morning, you go in and you are gently furious, and then you get a little smile on your face, and your heart breaks a bit, but it’s totally worth it!”
