Meet Garcelle Beauvais’ Twin Sons Jaid Thomas and Jax Joseph

Jaid Thomas and Jax Joseph Nilon are the twin sons of popular Haitian-American actress Garcelle Beauvais and Michael Nilon, a talent agent. The twins were born on October 18, 2007 and are 16 years old.

The twins, however, came to the limelight on account of their relationship with their famous actress mother. Garcelle Beauvais is more recognized as the first black woman on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The Birth Of The Twins Ended Years Of Childbearing Issues For Their Parents

We don’t think anyone would be criticized for stating that the birth of the twins ended several years of struggles with childbearing to their parents. The torrid period for their mother, Garcelle, and father, Michael, was finally ended when Jaid Thomas and Jax Joseph were born on October 18, 2007.

Garcelle and then-husband Michael Nilon had faced serious childbearing challenges over the previous five years, with Garcelle having the misfortune of 3 miscarriages. The couple, who felt something had to be done, started to seek a solution to their infertility problems.

The solution they settled on was the notoriously expensive in-vitro fertilization process, all in a bid to have children. To their disappointment, the process was unsuccessful at the first attempt. This attempt to have a child was their fourth attempt when you factor in the three previous natural attempts that ended in miscarriages.

The couple, especially Garcelle, who would not be dissuaded from experiencing the joy of being parents together, tried the IVF method a second time, and fate smiled on them this time. She became pregnant from this second attempt and was understandably apprehensive given her previous track record. The physical and emotional upheaval she was experiencing led to yet another twist in the tale.

The issues that arose from this led to premature labor pains, and she required a cesarean section to have her babies at eight and half months. The joy that their mother experienced at their birth was great to the point that she didn’t mind all the baby weight she had gained.

The Twins Parents’ Marriage Failed After Their Birth

Jaid Thomas and Jax Joseph are both products of a broken home. However, it is important to point out that their birth had practically nothing to do with it. On the contrary, both their parents seemed happy and overjoyed when the twins came into the world. It could be argued that the circumstances and the period that preceded their birth most likely put a strain on their parents’ relationship.

Garcelle, who had spent nine years from 1991 married to her ex-husband, Daniel Saunders, had divorced him in 2000 and felt disillusioned with the institution of marriage. However, this feeling disappeared when she met Michael Nilon, a talent agent who worked with Creative Artists Agency, almost immediately after her first divorce. The relationship progressed quickly enough to the point where they married in May 2001.

During the first six years of the marriage, from 2001 to 2007, the couple were entirely focused on having children to the point where they failed to recognize that they had drifted apart from each other in their zealous search for offspring. The birth of the twins seemed to paper over the cracks that had appeared in their marriage until the fateful day when Garcelle sought permission to make a phone call with her husband’s phone.

From this point on, the threads that held the marriage started to unravel, and hidden infidelities sprang to the fore. On receiving her husband’s phone, Garcelle stumbled upon raunchy and intimate messages that Michael had been exchanging with an unidentified woman who resided in Chicago.

Garcelle confronted Michael with what she had seen only to be dazed with the information that her seemingly perfect husband had been having an affair with the said woman. Further correspondence with some of his co-workers revealed that the affair had been going on for five years. It is easy to conclude that Michael’s infidelity began during the struggle to have children.

Considering that Jaid Thomas and Jax Joseph’s parents were celebrities, it didn’t take long for the press to get wind of the situation. At this point, Garcelle had lost all faith in a man she had once thought beyond reproach. After intensive therapy, only one course of action was left for the actress. The marriage, which lasted nine years, would end in 2010.

Their Parents Took Joint Custody Of Them After The Divorce

Beauvais would not take this emotional slight lying down and filed for divorce on May 10, 2010. However, her anger didn’t get the best of her because she agreed to joint custody of the twins. At the finalization of the divorce on April 1, 2011, the twins went to live with their mother because they were around three years old at the time of the divorce.

The acrimonious nature of the divorce has not prevented or limited their father’s involvement in their lives. Both parents chose to place the needs and interests of the twins above their feelings towards each other. As a matter of fact, they are now on quite cordial terms with each other.

Michael Nilon has always been involved in the twins’ lives, as evidenced by a media image of the twins with both parents at their 11th birthday celebration. As kids, Jaid Thomas and Jax Joseph made headlines when their mother, Garcelle, expressed her emotions at seeing them off to school. When they had just started middle school at the age of 4, not much was known about their education since that time.

Jaid Thomas And Jax Joseph Are Fraternal Twins

The brothers might be twins, but they are as different as night and day. According to their mother, who stated back in 2009, she has always been able to tell them apart firstly because they look nothing alike despite being twins.

Another marker of identification rests on the twins’ personalities, which essentially reflect those of their parents, Garcelle and Michael. According to their mom, Jaid Thomas’s personality is a bit like his dad’s in that he is more laid back and cautious when meeting new people.

The twins are yet to launch their own social media pages, and it would be quite unwise to speculate on their career prospects, given that they are most likely still navigating high school. The only link to social media has been through their parents’ and older brother’s IG pages. Their mother, Garcelle Beauvais, has undoubtedly accomplished many good things in her life and career.

Yet, she still refers to the twins as the biggest blessings in her life. Right from their birth, she has always grabbed the slightest opportunity to show them off to the public, whether it’s at Red-Carpet events or celebrating milestones with them. She took to her Instagram page to celebrate the twins’ 14th birthday in October 2021.

Jaid and Jax Have a Good Relationship With Their Older Half Brother Oliver Saunders

Garcelle Beauvais was previously married to producer Daniel Saunders as previously but briefly pointed out. That union yielded a son named Oliver Saunders. Oliver Saunders was born in 1991 and has a very good relationship with his half twin brothers.

Olivia Saunders, a rapper, recently welcomed a son, Oliver Saunders Jr., with his wife, Samantha Saunders. He has been involved in the twins’ lives since their days as toddlers, as evidenced by posts on his Instagram page.
