Collin Morikawa’s father Blaine Morikawa was born on the 9th of October 1959, making him 64 years old. Information about who his parents and siblings are is yet to be revealed. It has been shared that both his parents came from Asia and his family tree can be traced back to Hawaii.
The rest of Blaine’s rather large extended family still reside on the island of Maui and they own and run a family restaurant in Lahaina, however, a majority of his family have relocated to Oahu. It has not been revealed when Debbie Morikawa was born, making it impossible for us to determine how old she is but we do know that she was born and raised in China. Just like Blaine, no information has been provided about her parents and/or siblings but unlike Blaine, thanks to her son Collin, we know that she is an alumnus of the University of Southern California. She runs a laundry service which she co-owns alongside her husband Blaine. The Morikawa family are of Japanese and Chinese descent. While the timeline of their relationship has not been provided, considering Collin was born in 1997, it is safe to assume that the two have been together for 24 years or more, give or take.

It would have made the perfect sports story had Collin Morikawa’s parents been pro golf players who passed on skills and lessons to their son but this is not the case. According to his words to the PGA Tour official website, golf was an unusual path for Collin as he just found himself picking up interest in the sport. His interest in golf was influenced by his parents who had picked up a little interest in the sport just for leisure.
For Collin, he was so in love with the sport that it was more than just another pass time for him. His parents did support him by speaking to the organizers of a junior golf camp in Scholl Canyon in Glendale, near where he grew up to let him participate when he was just 5 years old.
Morikawa began learning from a married couple who taught juniors before his skills brought him under the tutelage of Rick Sessinghaus, a man who taught players with a lot of prospects at the camp. When Morikawa turned 8 years old and through to his high school years, he met with Rick Sessinghaus on a weekly basis.
It is clear that Collin Morikawa’s parents have been quite the positive influence in his life, from the big things like his personal ideals to the little things like what schools to apply to for college. After high school, the star had several college options but he greatly considered going to the University of Southern California mainly because his mother was an alumnus. However, things turned out differently as he opted for the University of California, Berkeley. Upon his graduation in 2019, the pro golfer took to Instagram to share graduation photos (below) with fans, while expressing huge gratitude to his parents.
Morikawa might not have had golfer parents but there is someone special in his life who loves golf and fingers crossed might soon become his family. That person is his girlfriend Katherine Zhu who is a former college golfer for Pepperdine University, California.
