Priddy Ugly (Real Name: Ricardo Moloi, born April 2, 1992 in Luanda, Angola) is a 32-year-old South African MC and rapper known for bangers such as Come to My Kasi, O2Hero, and In the Mood.
It is a sad fact that sometimes the most gifted performers are not always found at the top. Priddy Ugly would tell you this for free. Despite his name, there is nothing ugly about him – or his music. Even though he has been in the industry since 2007, it wasn’t until a few years back that he received some recognition for his work. His music is always a regular occupant at clubhouses and party venues. With a career spanning nearly a decade, he has definitely seen it all.
In spite of all the odds against him, Priddy Ugly has gone on to create a legacy for himself both within his country and internationally. Because he was previously a sportsman, the rapper embodies the competitiveness and resilience, without which surviving in the cut-throat entertainment industry would be impossible. Luckily for him, he didn’t have to do it all alone. He has been with the beautiful television personality, Bontle Modiselle, for over 14 years, and together they have conquered the difficulties of being in show business.

Although The Angola-born Rapper Is Mostly Known As Priddy Ugly, That Is Not His Birth Name
Priddy Ugly, whose birth name is Ricardo Moloi, was born somewhere in the Angolan capital, Luanda, on the 2nd of April in 1992. He was born to an Angolan mother named Santa Maria Dumingez and a South African father, Lebone Moloi. Priddy didn’t grow up in Angola though; when he was still young, he was brought to South Africa by his parents and raised in Meadowlands in Soweto and later in Kempton Park, Gauteng.
There isn’t much revealed about his siblings’ identities or if he even has any as lots of indications suggest that he is an only child. Anyways, while growing up in Soweto, Priddy discovered quite early that he had an unusually competitive streak. He was a very athletic child and soon he developed a love for rigorous physical activities like dancing and sports. He briefly attended the Moroka Swallows Football Academy where he competed in the South Africa National Athletics Games.
During this period, he decided to compete in a dance competition called the St. Peter’s National Dance Tournament and he was named the Best Male Dancer. This marked a change in Priddy’s decision to pursue a sports career and he decided to focus on music and dance instead. Priddy Ugly went on to join other small dance groups but none really gave him the exposure he needed until he joined the boy band called ‘Krunk Era’. With Krunk Era, (later re–named Blaque), he got his first real taste of fame and when he was just 15 years old, the band was signed to H.U.G.E. Entertainment records in 2007 by Vusi Leeuw.
He Came Into The Music Scene Fully In 2016 When He Was Signed To Ambitiouz Records
Although he had been in the music scene since 2007, Priddy Ugly didn’t get much out of his career in the band and had to leave. His decision to start his solo career took him all the way to the Aviator Management record label in 2010. This label financed his earliest solo works like his 2012 mixtape, ‘The Ugly Truth’, and a compilation album called ‘The Take Off’, featuring fellow record label mates. Being a musical artist sometimes means that you have to make the best decisions for yourself and your career. This spurred Priddy’s decision to leave Aviator and join record label giant, Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2016.
Under his new record label, he released the album D.N.A and E.G.Y.P.T. with both doing reasonably well on the hot songs’ charts. Priddy was yet not satisfied with how he was managed as an artist in his present record label and in 2018, he exited the company, citing incompetent management. In spite of all the drama with his different labels, Priddy Ugly has continued to do what he knows best – release good songs for his fans. His most recent collaborations have seen him working with top artists like Shane Eagle, Refi Sings, A-Reece, and KCV.
Upon leaving Ambitiouz, Priddy noticed that some of his songs had been pulled off streaming platforms and he took to social media to raise an alarm, believing that he was being sabotaged. A little investigation revealed that it was only a minor algorithm issue and his songs are back on Sound Cloud and Spotify. Still, Priddy believes that he is not given enough recognition for his work, especially in his country. He revealed that he found more comfort in the knowledge that he had a growing international fan base which he hoped to tap into by going on tour. Whatever happens, we just hope that Priddy Ugly begins to get more recognition for his work as he remains one of South Africa’s dopest rappers.

Priddy Ugly Is Married to Bontle Modiselle and They Have A Daughter Together
Even though the South African rapper is only 32, he has already found love with his longtime girlfriend and crush, Bontle Modiselle. Bontle is a popular South African dancer and choreographer known mainly for her role in the 2015 dance movie, Hear Me Move. The two artists began dating in 2007 even though they had known each other longer than that. According to Priddy, they were high school mates, and he had a crush on her but couldn’t muster the courage to ask her out. Anyways, Bontle was smart enough to make the first move and today the happiness they feel is very obvious to their fans and the general public.
After pulling several wedding pranks on their fans, the two lovebirds finally got engaged in 2015. Their traditional wedding ceremony happened in February 2018 and by 2019, they were fully married. To top the cake, they gave birth to their first child, Afrika Bonita Lerato Moloi that same year. Bontle and Priddy’s relationship is the epitome of black love and it’s very heart-warming to see how in love they are, especially in their YouTube videos.
If Priddy Has Any Siblings, None Of Them Is As Popular As He Is Yet
So far, we haven’t been able to determine the members of Priddy Ugly’s birth family. The rapper has only spoken about his mother a few times. One memorable instance was when he spoke up about how unsafe she felt as an Angolan native during the xenophobic attacks, even though she had spent over 28 years of her life in the country. It is very obvious that he loves his mother very much, which is sweet – it takes a brave son to speak up for his mother, even at risk to his own life.
In the instance that Priddy actually has siblings, it is apparent that he is the most successful of the lot. His net worth is valued at over a million dollars and he has worked as an ambassador to international brands like Diesel, the Italian high-fashion clothing brand. Priddy was named the first African ambassador of the high-end clothing company. Another ambassador for the denim giant is popular Bollywood actor, Aditya Roy Kapur who was the company’s first watch ambassador in India.
He also signed an ambassadorship contract with the liquor company, Liberado. The brand is known for its special tequila-flavored beer.
