With his mom being a school teacher, Musa Mthombeni was reportedly homeschooled for a while. Upon completion of high school, he enrolled at the University of Witwatersrand in 2006. There, he earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) and his six-year degree included one year of community service at a local clinic and two years of internship.
In July 2023, Musa disclosed that he had completed the Diagnostic Radiology Board Exams in South Africa and thus, has become a Specialist Radiologist. On January 2nd, 2017, Musa Mthombeni took to Twitter to announce that he is officially a medical doctor. Soon after, he began working at Lenasia Clinic in the south of Johannesburg. Later on, he was recruited as a radiologist at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto. Then in July 2023, he received his board-certified specialist radiologist certification.
Meanwhile, from February 2023 to August 2023, he was a sessional radiology medical officer at the Gauteng Department of Health.
