The Controversy About Costa’s Rap Style and Language

Costa Titch has been able to influence other artists with his style of rap beat which is predominantly a trap subgenre of hip hop music with very high-energy drum samples. His method of combining Isizulu lines in his raps has made him unique among traditional music lovers. Although Costa has been largely criticized for using vernac in his music and songwriting.

In his reaction, he noted that to be a successful rapper in South Africa means one has to appeal to the masses and that he would rather tow that line of using vernac in his music as opposed to many of his friends who rap in English. He also admitted that he wrote the song using Google translate while he would sometimes give his friends lyrics to translate for him.

With thousands of followers on Instagram, he’s known as someone very consistent on social media as he doesn’t fail to update his fans about his shows and events. In South Africa today, Costa Titch happens to be one of the artists making waves and has no doubt contributed to the South African entertainment industry. He is truly a game-changer, transforming what rap music represents and making the Afro-trap genre popular.
