The department of labour and employment is dedicated to providing its consumers and business partners with friendly, efficient, and high-quality services. They basically achieve the above through various means including:
- Social and income protection

- Appropriate legislation and regulations
- Promotion of equity
- Inspection, compliance monitoring, and enforcement
The Department of labour also plays a pivotal role in making sure that unemployment and the poverty level in the country are reduced to the barest minimum. From time to time, they often roll out a set of programs and policies targeted at the people in consultation with social partners.
The role of the department in the improvement of economic efficiency and productivity in South Africa cannot be overemphasized. The department also spreads its tentacles to workplaces, where they ensure there is absolute equality and impartiality.

— Department of Employment and Labour (@deptoflabour) October 11, 2021
The department of labour and employment in South Africa is a major part of the civil service. Since its inception, the unit has proved to be an asset, especially in the employment and labour area.
In all fairness, the department’s effectiveness cannot be sidelined as it has shown great professionalism in the exercise of authority in labour administration and protection and skill development over the years. Interestingly, the department sometimes works with other corporate bodies and parastatals to bring about positive changes both within and outside of their administrative field.
