Robert Mugabe was the President of Zimbabwe for a very long time, almost eternally. His emergence as the leader of the nation can be traced back to the conflict of the White minority government of then Rhodesia. He was a prominent leader of the rebel groups against the White minority rule, became a political prisoner in Rhodesia between 1964 and 1974, led a military wing during the Rhodesian Bush War, was elected as Prime Minister in 1980, and occupied the office until 31 December 1987 when he became the first executive head of state.

While former President Robert Mugabe had always been criticized by the Western world as corrupt, incompetent and tyrant, he remained a hero to Many Zimbabweans and Africans at large until recently. He was increasingly denounced by many of his African admirers due to his cling to power and the devastating economic crisis rocking Zimbabwe at his watch.

Mr Mugabe to many had a complicated, odd choice of words and sense of comparison as he had on many occasions, made statements that are inciting and malicious, mischievous and outrightly stupid. Sometimes, his statements are quite wise and other times, they’re amusingly incredible. Under-listed are his leading statements that aroused controversy. See for yourself if Mugabe was rightly likened to a lion that roars and “leaves some quotable quotes that linger in the mind for a very long time.”

“I am still the Hitler of the time. This Hitler has only one objective, justice for his own people, sovereignty for his people, recognition of the independence of his people, and their right to their resources. If that is Hitler, then let me be a Hitler tenfold. Ten times, that is what we stand for.”

Mugabe never supported gay marriage, and always ridiculed the idea, for to him, “even Satan wasn’t Gay, he chose to approach unclad Eve Instead of unclad Adam”. It would be ideal to demand of Mugabe how he got to know Satan was a He. But then, there are no strong sources to link him with the statement. Below, however, are verified statements he made concerning gay marriage.

“Archbishop Tutu said it is nice to be gay, yet he has a wife, he should have begun by getting himself a man for a woman…When you are a bishop and cannot interpret the Bible, you should resign and give it to those who can. We will not compromise our tradition and tolerate homosexuality.”

When some South Africans went crazy, hunting, harming and killing Africans from other countries living in South Africa, Mugabe reportedly stated that “South Africans will kick down a statue of a dead white man but won’t even attempt to slap a live one. Yet they can stone to death a black man simply because he’s a foreigner.” However, the statement can’t be authenticated as Mugabe’s as the sources are not reliable. But then, it’s certain that he blamed white South Africans for the xenophobic attacks. According to him:

“It is a matter of the whites keeping things to themselves and the political dispensation brought in by Mandela, (that) did not address the question of disparities between whites and blacks, and this is what must be addressed.”

Robert Mugabe was elected Prime Minister after he called for reconciliation between the sections engaged in the Rhodesian Bush Warfare, including white Zimbabweans and rival political parties. Mugabe said, “Stay with us, please remain in this country and constitute a nation based on national unity.” When Mugabe’s land reform was criticized for taking lands belonging to White farmers he retorted that

“The white man is not indigenous to Africa. Africa is for Africans. Zimbabwe is for Zimbabweans…The white man is here as a second citizen. The only man you can trust is a dead white man.”

Mugabe, later on, said: “What we hate is not the colour of their skins but the evil that emanates from them.” And thus emphasized that: “Our party must continue to strike fear in the heart of the white man, our real enemy!”

As Mugabe can only trust a dead white man, he attacked the living with his words. Some of the statements he made about Tony Blair And George W Bush are as listed below:

“The Commonwealth is a mere club, but it has become like an ‘Animal Farm’ where some members are more equal than others. How can Blair claim to regulate and direct events and still say all of us are equals?”

Check Out: President Mugabe Caught Sleeping In Public 8 Times

Undoubtedly, President Mugabe was a big fan of cricket. He was so passionate about the game to such extent he was convinced the game can make Zimbabweans well-mannered. Thus he remarked:

2. On Gay Marriage
