While the science fiction genre may not be for everybody, it has actually been garnering steady followership in recent years. Now more than ever before, some of the best stuff on television today are science fiction shows.<\/p>\n
Science fiction is a genre in literature, movies, television or artworks that deal\u00a0with futuristic, imaginative concepts dealing with a range of science and technology related topics from extraterrestrial life, time travel, space travel and parallel universe.<\/p>\n
The science fiction world is probably one of the most interesting genres because it explores a world where anything is possible through scientific innovations and technological advancements but it is important to not mix it up with the fantasy genre which features supernatural, magical and paranormal themes.<\/p>\n
Science fiction shows have always had the ability to attract a devoted fanbase because of their creativity, special effects and outside-the-box exploration.<\/p>\n
With that in mind, here are some of the amazing science fiction shows that were amazing when they first came out, are amazing now and will continue to remain amazing tomorrow.<\/p>\n

The X Files<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>is a science fiction show which ran\u00a0for nine seasons from September 1993 to May 2002. The wildly popular show revolves around FBI special agents Dana Scully (which was played by Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (who was played by David Duchovny) who investigated mysterious unsolved cases with paranormal undertones. These cases were referred to as the X-files. To be honest, as with most television series, there’s a lot more to the show which enabled it to garner millions of viewers every episode.<\/p>\n Its dedicated writing and unexpected plotlines make it one of those shows that will stand the test of time.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Firefly<\/em> is an interesting addition to this list because it was on air for only one season but managed to garner a huge fan base – huge enough to spawn a wildly successful movie.<\/p>\n Firefly<\/em> is a space western drama that aired on NBC. It was created by Joss Whedon and featured an ensemble cast of nine people, set in 2517, who live on a spaceship. It also explores the lives of Mal Reynolds (the ship’s captain) and who fought on the losing side of the civil war as he and his team navigate their world.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This not only stands the test of time but it also spawned quite a few successful DVD movies and spin-off shows. The premise of the series takes place about a year after the events of the movie on which it is based (Stargate<\/em>).<\/p>\n It follows a\u00a0United States Air Force special operations elite team as they explore the galaxy and protect earth from alien threats using an ancient alien technology – the stargate.<\/p>\n2.
