Nkosi fell in love with radio as a kid. He grew up listening to Radio Zulu and Radio Swaziland. After completing his secondary education, he <a href=\"https:\/\/helenherimbi.co.za\/on-wilson-b-nkosi\/\">wrote<\/a> to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), requesting a broadcasting job at Springbox Radio. He was told that there was no vacancy at the time but should try Radio Swazi (now Ligwalagwala FM).<\/p>\n<p>Wilson desired to work with SABC and not Radio Swazi. Later, in 1986, he received a letter from SABC telling him that they would be launching Radio Metropolitan (now Metro FM) and should audition if he was still interested in working for them. Though he didn&#8217;t have a demo, he went for the audition, which was successful, and was recruited by Metro FM as a radio DJ at the age of 19 in 1986.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson B. Nkosi was one of the first DJs at the radio station and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metrofm.co.za\/metrofm\/personality\/wilson\/\">started<\/a> with a graveyard slot. He was later promoted to work as the host of morning and afternoon drive-time shows. In the year 2000, the Mpumalanga DJ started hosting a popular Sunday show, <em>Sounds and Stuff Like That,<\/em> from 9 AM to 12 PM. As part of his Sunday show, he also hosts <em>Poetry In Motion<\/em>\u00a0and delivers inspiring poems on the show.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson B. Nkosi&#8217;s <em>Sounds and Stuff Like That<\/em> is very popular with a vast section of Mzansi radio listeners. Hence, the show usually attracts over a million listeners, which accounts for its longevity on Metro FM.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"auto\"><strong>Is Wilson B. Nkosi Leaving Metro FM?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>No, Wilson B. Nkosi is not leaving Metro FM. He has been associated with the radio station for more than 36 years and seems not to be quitting his role any time soon. The radio DJ is an important staff member of the station. Nkosi only went on a brief break. He subsequently returned to the station. Over the years, his shows have inspired millions of people in SA and beyond. For instance, <em>Poetry In Motion<\/em>, which forms part of his Sunday show, has helped many people contemplating suicide.<\/p>\n<p>Amazingly, in September 2020, when Wilson B. Nkosi celebrated 34 years at Metro FM, the management and staff of the radio station <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sowetanlive.co.za\/entertainment\/2020-10-02-wilson-nkosi-gets-surprise-party-thrown\/\">organized<\/a> a surprise party for him. The team took over his Sunday show, and the remarkable milestone was celebrated live on air. Also, social media users celebrated the radio royalty with the hashtag #ThankyouWilsonB.Nkosi. The 57-year-old has attributed his success to his ability to approach his work with enough zeal.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"auto\"><strong>Wilson B. Nkosi&#8217;s TV Hosting and DJing Gigs<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Wilson launched his TV career in 1987, a year after joining Metro FM. He served as the presenter of a request show titled <em>Sidlalela Intsha, Sidlalela Ulutsha<\/em>. He also served as a replacement for <a href=\"https:\/\/buzzsouthafrica.com\/bob-mabena-biography-critical-details-about-the-presenters-wife-kids-and-life-story\/\">Bob Mabena<\/a>\u00a0on <em>Studio Mix<\/em> in the absence of the anchor. Following the launch of <em>Jam Alley<\/em> in 1992, Wilson B. Alongside Rozanne McKenzie, Wilson helped to showcase the aspiring stories of both successful black commercial farmers and niche farmers.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to working as a radio DJ, Wilson B. Nkosi has entertained masses at several events held across Mzansi. The agency is into writing and production of radio and TV commercials. Wilson also wrote scripts for the Reliable Music Half-Hour Show, for which the company Reliable Music Warehouse was impressed.
