The victim just arrived from <a href=\"https:\/\/buzzsouthafrica.com\/10-most-relaxing-water-parks-in-johannesburg\/\">Johannesburg<\/a> to stay with her family members in Richards Bay and also further her education.<\/p>\n<p>Trying to secure enrollment for the girl at a local high school in the community, her family approached Dumisani Ndlazi to help out as he&#8217;s a prominent person in the community. The girl and her relative visited his house, and he gave them some documents to complete and told them to deliver the outstanding paperwork the next day.<\/p>\n<p>When the young lady returned to Dumisani Ndlazi&#8217;s house at 7:30 AM on January 14th, 2014, he allegedly invited her inside his house and raped her. Her family opened a case of rape at Richards Bay police station, which was subsequently transferred to Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigations. Dumisani was arrested and charged with rape on the same day of the incident.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>He Was Convicted of Rape in 2016<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Two weeks after his arrest, Dumisani Ndlazi appeared at Richards Bay Magistrate&#8217;s Court and was released on bail of R3,000. He subsequently made appearances in court and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saps.gov.za\/newsroom\/msspeechdetail.php?nid=7579\">sentenced<\/a> to 10 years imprisonment on March 8th, 2016. It is however unclear how long he spent in jail. Whilst trying to clarify some things said about him in the media in June 2023, the Zulu native agreed that he was involved in a rape case but didn&#8217;t stay in jail.<\/p>\n<p>He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news24.com\/citypress\/trending\/nonku-williams-ex-rough-diamond-breaks-his-silence-20230622\">claimed<\/a> that he was proven innocent and was released. Meanwhile, on <em>RHODurban<\/em>, Nonku Williams revealed that she was aware that her then-boyfriend was an ex-convict. She admitted that Dumisani told her that he only spent 5 or 6 months in jail as he was exonerated and released.
